Does anyone know of any author poker player who has written books related to poker?

I read a story on a site that talked about Daniel Negreanu criticizing the books of poker book authors who are mediocre poker players.

And could anyone point out any author to follow up on the gameplay of poker?

There are dozens of poker books and online poker resources. Look for books or resources that focus on your particular game - No Limit / Fixed Limit. Are you interested in cash games or tournaments? What sort of tournaments - single table or multi-table?
Look for current material. Some of the books written in the last century are out of date, but have solid fundamentals.
Where are you in your knowledge of poker? Does all your knowledge come from playing? Have you ever studied, or do you understand poker math? Some resources are great for beginners, others for advanced players - those who have the basics committed to memory.
I have a small library of books. Each one helps in different ways.
It is up to you to determine what will work best for you.
Best of luck.

My favorite poker books

My favorite poker book was hands revealed by gus hansen. After reading that book I because a lot more aggressive player and had a lot of success.

But some other books to mention:
Doyle brunson's the super system
And I can't remember the title of these books but Dan Harrington has a book on tournament play and another on cash games. They were both good reads where he walks you through certain hand scenarios and tells you why which play was the right play.

books for poker is a way to make money on a book. the book itself is absolutely useless. this is useful for those who sell this book. the main aspects of any book for poker is the patience of the experience and a little bit of luck. if you understand this then you will no longer be a ruffian buying these books.

  1. Easy Game
  2. Decide to Play Great Poker
  3. The Mental Game of Poker
  4. Math Workbook for Poker Player
  5. The Mathmatics of Poker.
All books on this list are good ones and have been written for players that are not mediocres (exception made to the 3rd one since Jared are not a poker player, but this is a book about your mental game not about poker especifically).

Amazon suggested "Every Hand Revealed" by Gus Hansen.

Now, this is clearly a book for very advanced poker-minds, but I bought it because I want to be a very advanced poker-mind. I want to understand what these people are thinking, how they're levelling and get there. And, while it's way not appropriate for my current level, I think it's really important to have a vision for where you're going.

I really enjoyed the Mental Game of Poker, and I also really enjoyed Harrington on Hold 'Em.

The problem with the MGoP is that you can convince yourself that the issue isn't your fundamentals and the problem with books on fundamentals is that it's hard to know what is accurate, what is timeless and what is out of date.

Jonathan Little

And regardless of what you think of his style of play, his webinars are genius. He describes himself as generally Loose Aggressive. For various types of hands and situations, whether its bluffing, 3 betting, dealing with limpers, etc. . . , he takes you through each step of the hand, articulating the reasoning behind each of his moves clearly and concisely. Most if not all of his hands come from actual tournaments he has played in. You may agree with his rationale or you may not, but there is no ambiguity in his explanations of why he made certain moves, thus leaving the viewer to be the judge if such reasoning would apply in similar situations he or she may face at the table.

Daniel Harrington Books

Are the principles in his books still applicable to today's game?
