bloody hell troops im having a mare at the moment.....ive got about 3 dollars left, started the level with $10, been on it or 5 days or so.....was playing 5nl for about 3 weeks and was doing A HELL OF ALOT BETTER lol....what the hell is wrong with me, i cannot let go of a good starting hand....everytime i get pocket queens 'had 3 tonight' an ace ALWAYS flops.....the villians min bet/raise and i always try and semi bluff them with continuation bets....ofcourse they call and flip over ace rag beating my queens......3 TIMES...

on other occasions im getting ak's aq's and going too far with them even though i know im beat.....although i do believe you learn from making repeated mistakes, and it will only make my game stronger in the long run.....

i would actually reccomend new players like myself to make mistakes and learn from them......im going to need to work like a bitch to build my roll lol, but all in all i am still loving it....

Well Alyoung I wish you the best of luck...I mean 2nl is just ahhhhhhhhhh (So frustrating for me)...I mean I'm not the best to give advice about this stuff but on a different note (Trying to cheer you up btw)...

I drop 40 buyins last night at 2/5PLO mind you I've made about 20 of it up today, but you get my drift I hope...

What I'm trying to say is (Shit happens), just learn from your mistakes, don't try and semi bluff, and for Gods sake do not bluff at all

Buying in for half a stack is a silly mistake.

Coz it shows that your being cautious and not confident in your abilities and when you do get a pot it's going to be small

Half-stacking tends to indicate you're thinking defensively. You choose your stack size to limit your potential loss instead of maximizing your potential gain.

Look at your opponents. How many solid winners play with half stacks?

Yeah I understand what you guys are saying, its just I've only got $9 and I can't deposit anymore for another 2 or 3 weeks.....when I do I will stick $50 on and have 25 buy ins at $2......I will feel much better and more confident then, instead of trying to protect my last 9 dollars like it is life or death....but atm I would rather have 9 buy ins than 4

Remember about volume eh!

Cannot fathom how much lower limit players are results oriented when playing such a little or small sample. It's all one big mental F you game remember that ;) and push through the falls!

This is why I play sit and go, the money is spent up front and you cant lose what you havent won

GL but don't get down on yourself if you go busto with 4bi's. I mean even the great players would go broke more than not with only 4bi's.So here is to you running super hot until you have enough for proper BRM.

Absolutely. Even when you deposit $50 you should be mentally prepared for the possibility that when you play well, you could still lose a large portion of this in situations where you were favourite but didnt win. I started with a just a few buyins and made $28 at 2nl then just a few days later was at -$14. It really made me mad. Ive been slowly creeping back up but I think there was some positive outcome. Ive read that it can/would happen, and am trying not to let results affect me so much. Stacking tables has helped during the session in this regard, once youve made your decision the screen has gone and youre on to the next decision. Try out a trial of Hem or PT if you arent doing so and maybe it could help you run another table or two to increase your volume. Best of luck

thanks man, yeah im prepared to lose while im learning, you hear people who only deposit once and go on to make thousands and never need to deposit again...your ego tells you, you can do the same thiing....but in reality im guessing that only happens for a small number of players, who are prob experienced in the game to start with.....so i will keep depositing until ive done my apprenticeship...

i downloaded hem but after a few days it was clear my netbook couldnt handle the programme, slowed it right down, and was lagging, sticking etc...done my nut in.....so i had to delete it....i was playing 2 tables with it....so i will need to win enough from 1 table so i can buy a new computer before installing hem again.....good luck on your 2nl mission

I managed to run one $50 deposit up into thousands in a year and when I logged my 1st hand on pokerstars I didn't even know the hand rankings, let alone anything else. So no need to believe only experienced players can do that.

haha tbh I think you have to be pretty lucky at the start, I know I ran awesome where I think I was 95% to bust my $50.

Just overthinking things maybe too much since being here, and expecting positive results over realizing what poker is, a game where we profit off other players mistakes. Variance is what keeps the game legit, without it we would all be millionaires :) Just remember or tell yourself or even break down each hand and as long as you did everything correctly, and break it down properly dont be results oriented be situational oriented, be happy you make proper decisions and move on from there :)

Bad beats happen and they are from expectations to succeed along the struggling road.

Keep your chin up and take deep breaths and break it down and move on bud.

All the best to you in your pursuit.

I know how you feel! I was also very frustrated when playing against huge fish at 2nl... I blamed it all on luck and how bad they play so i cant do tricks on them "how did he call that?!","he must be bluffing here,i gotta call...DAMN!:banghead: ". Until my friend who has been internet pro for 4 years came to my place and played four table session...After 1 hour he had the whole bankroll for 2nl on the tables  Micros are perfectly beatable, you just need a bit different strategy. How are you doing now,im really interested? :)

You NEVER EVER stop learning! Make that one of the things that you engrave into your head.

I deposited once on Stars and once on FT about 4 years ago. I have never made another deposit again. This is not because I am a great player but mainly because I have always followed strict BMR guidelines. Part of it must be that I am somewhat lucky too because I never did go busto.

Please though keep BRM and learning in the back of your mind and you will always be, at the very least, a small winning player. If your goal is to make a career out of poker I am unfortunately not going to be any help.
