There is a more than one good article out there about outs pot odds, hand odds, rule of 2 and 4. You'll definitely should check strategy articles on this site and basic poker articles
on poker school online. if you cant find them i can pm you the links of what you should check out...
Out is a card that if get drawn on board makes your hand stronger or completes your draw, now when i think about it you might check the poker lingo or what it's name here on sticked treads on this section. Now when you look at your hand, easiest way is to look at it on flop, lets say you have suitedconnectors 78h and the board comes in 96K of rainbow, what you get is open ended str8 draw, any T or any 5 will give you str8 there is a 4 tens and 4 fives in deck which means that 8 cards will complete your draw thus you have 8 outs. Now lets say that with the same holding as above you get different flop with A3 of hearts and J of clubs, you flopped flush draw, there is 13 carda of each suit on the deck, you hold 2, there are 2 on the board and remaining 9 will give you flush, so you have 9 outs.
this by itself doesnt mean much but with knowing your outs you can calculate percentage or odds of this to happen by using rule of 2 and 4.
With knowing your outs you can calculate the percentage by multiplying your outs with 4 and see the chances of hitting your card in next 2 streets or with 2 if you wanna see the percentage of hitting it on 1 street, if you are on turn of if you only wanna see the turn. With examples above you have 8x4=32% to hit str8 with oesd on next 2 streets or 8x2=16% on next street, with FD there is 9x4=36% with rule of 4 and 18% with rule of 2.
Ill comeback with pot odds in a few minutes it is really difficult to write this much on phone...
