Hey guys,

It's been about a year since I last played with any kind of seriousness or effort. I won't get into too many details, but my best-friend, the guy I learned the game with and considered a brother, tragically passed away last December, and for awhile things just weren't the same. As time has gone by though, I've slowly started to get back into playing. I've just been messing around with some play money games and freerolls, but I'm looking to get back at it like before. So I was wondering if you had any advice, strategy, etc. about coming back after a break?

Thanks in advance,
Jonathan

well if you want alot of tips fulltilt offers alot of lessons from the pros for different styles of players and some odds. i think its really helped me so hopefully it will help you too. but besides the tips you just need to play alot to improve your game. poker takes alot of experience so play money will help some. Good luck.

Welcome back! Sorry about your best friend! I would be devastated if my best friend died.

Just ease back into the games you are most comfortable with. If you prefer tournaments, start with some lower limits than you played before. Same for cash games. Personally, everyday that I play, I like to do some low limit warm up games to get me revved up for the days worth of games, get the cobwebs out so to speak.

Good Luck!

"It depends",... depends on what types of games you have the most experience with.
I would tend to recommend folks get started with micro single-table sit'ngos, then multi-table sng's & MTT's. BUT of course it depends.... maybe cash tables were where you played the most? Only you will have the best idea of where & how to get re-started.
