Is there any way to get away from trips? Say I raise preflop with AK, the flop comes AK5, and I raise, yada yada yada...Eventually we get all-in and I'm beaten by three 5's. On a table where you don't know anybody and have no read is there any reasonable way I could fold? Not knowing anything about him I put him on AX.

Figured since he didn't reraise me preflop he didn't have AA or KK, but probably called with AX, maybe AQ or AJ, or maybe even Jacks.

Thanks for any advice.

K play all positions.

- all give up (RASER)
Someone paid .... (RASER)
-Someone increased .. (RASER)
someone raised after you (CALL 20)

an AK hand, can usually be called a strong hand, but there are many situations that must be analyzed, which left cards on the flop, and if you hit something, often play AK slow can be a mistake, and often hits.

the same question was asked how to play AK:)

The only way I could get away from a hand like that would be if a straight or flush draw was on the board and I believed the player hit.

Someone may have a straight draw at this point, and maybe a flush or flush draw but with AK, you still have to feel like you are a big favourite to win the hand. That is just unlucky imo. Nothing you can do about trips in this case... I probably would have played it the same way

think its pretty hard to get away from that hand with no notes or info on villian could easily be playing ace rag thru a-q or any number of hands that a-k dominates post flop-think you just got coolered there very hard to lay down ace with top kicker

Me I realize now it's kinda hard to bet any thing since there is so many donkeys out there that plays hands that they should not have called or even push all in on a hand on the pre flop. I would of went all in before the flop.

Not sure if he had a set or trips by what you are showing he had a set not trips so yes a little harder to get away from with top 2 pair.Trips however should be easier to read as there would be 2 5's on the board which also brings into play fullhouses when the board pairs hope this helps......scorp
