Getting away from fit or fold

I've been playing for a little less than 2 months, the only money I've played with has been restricted $20 buy ins for 0.25/0.50 cash games with local friends of varying skill levels, some mathematical TAGs, a couple of LAGs, and the rest maniac or fish. From reading here and studying up along with some experience I've gained on weekly play I've netted probably $410. As of late I also play frequently on freerolls on BetOnline and ACR, placing top 3 several times and in the bubble a few more times.

My question is, knowing pot odds, card equity, card ranges, and a basic understanding of reading, how do I get away from fit or fold behavior. I mean, even if I know to raise preflop in good position with AQo, or with whatever appropriate hand may be, when the flop comes dry, or even K94 and I face a strong bet, is the idea to always call. Obviously player types come into play here, but assuming you are either getting cbet, donked, or bet with bottom pair, is it truly the right play to always call or even raise when you currently have air.

In the situation above, saying I raised preflop on the button when UTG limps, small blind folds, BB calls and UTG calls, then on the flop BB checks, UTG makes a 2/3 or pot sized bet (or even 1/2, whichever), what is the action. Even if I hit a Q I have to worry about kings, so I'm only drawing towards aces or the unlikely straight.

To revise the situation, the flop is now J84. How much would this change. Yes I can hit the Q or A and be happy, although there are straight draws this would open up.

Basically I know ranges and in my local game can often fairly accurately read the LAG or TAG opponents, but online or sometimes live I simply don't know the proper action when I miss the flop. Clearly if I entered in with suited connectors that didn't pair and have a runner runner straight draw I should probably fold.

Any tips?

??????

I'm not sure why you would want to put a hole in your game. You should be looking to improve. Fit or fold poker, ABC poker, what ever you want to call it is winning poker. If you have a hand bet. If you don't, fold. Just basic 101 poker.

People watch edited TV and think huge bluffs with nothing are common, they are not, and usually only work because of getting credit for playing solid poker and having hands. Calling with nothing trying to spike an A or Q on the river may work 1 hand, but will cost a huge amount of money not just in the long run, but in the short term as well.

If you are starting to have some success, you should be adding slowly to what you are already doing, we are doing surgery with a scalpel not a machete. Once you are starting to show a profit, usually you only need to make a few small tweaks to continuously show a profit.

Fold. If I don't know where I'm at, I'm a crying caller or post oak bluffer.

If I can feel where I'm at, I can get out of the way, or make money.

When you're starting out, it's best to have a good hand if you're getting involved in a pot. It's that simple.

study postflop (I know, very useful =) )
if you know what ranges your ops play you have some info, you can pretty much figure out what your cations should be.
If you want a 1 post with all the potflop play - I'm sorry I dont think you can get it. It will depend on you ops play behavior, can you allow your self to float for the pot odds, shold you be floding less/more on BB...
For you particular question. here is a thought-train:
you missed flop>how exactly? do you dro anything?>how often does your opp gets in to pots(is he a fish)?>if you semi/bluff here how ofte do you get called by worst hands>if you do make your hand how often will it be dominated/how often will you get paid here(exmp. the board is 3 suited cards you have AsX if you call 1/2 pot bet will you get money on the river of you hit the flush).....?
makes sence right? =)
But I would not expect (unless you have a grinder of that particular limit) to get a certain answer how you should play this hand on this limit against this op. Over pot size bet(?shove) on NL2 with set can be proffitable, on nl25 it might not.
