I've always believed, and everyone has always said, that the best you can do is get it in good and hope for the best. But, I'm not positive about that anymore. I've had a lot of tournaments where I got it in good and felted because someone sucked out on me. In a recent tournament I experienced this to the extreme when I went from a 1500 starting stack to a 7500 stack in just 5 hands and 10 hands later I got felted by 4 "got it in good" hands which ended up being out-rivered. So, I'm beginning to wonder if "getting it in good" is really good enough to justify getting felted.
If it's going to cost you your tournament life to call an all-in with a good hand (maybe even a straight or pocket aces pre-flop), should you always call it and take that risk of someone sucking out on your, or should you fold and live to play another hand?

It will always be, one or another way of feeling it "getting it in good".. it is important to be stady once in right moment, but its never too much.. make preshure sometime more often, and be back when out/riverd.. its just poker :) don't give up, continue to do what you are doing! good luck

I think that getting it in good and losing is pretty frustrating, but not nearly as frustrating as getting it in bad. Variance is a huge aspect of the game and something that must be accepted in order to not become tilted when losing in a hand where I am a large favorite.

Also, when it comes to your tournament life and worrying about being sucked out on:
If you know where you stand in the hand, are a favorite, and are worried about preserving your tournament life rather than risk someone getting lucky on you - that's a personal choice. At the end of the day it is still gambling(unless you have the absolute nuts), even if you are a large favorite. Although, I would rather have my aces cracked than to be cautious and wait until I've bled too many chips in blinds and antes to even be able to get it in good.

sometimes getting it in good was the only choice left-ide say for me if i can get it in good everytime I'm all-in il be a winner in the long run, the odds say so.its way better then getting it in bad and losing-after x-amount of hands youll see that as well, the odds are in your favor

Draws go down in value in MTT's. Especially Omaha MTT's. Though what else can you do than get it in,realistically speaking, 70% or better.

I`d rather fold and live to play another hand,,,,getting it in good is ok for some, but not nearly enough for others. As you gain experience, you slow down,,,and listen to that little man on your shoulder that says `your beat`,,,,,and let it go. ;)

nope

if your going risk your tourney life and your deep for lets say you have a pair and the board is draw heavy. toss it isn't worth saying I was ahead and if your not that much ahead then it really is a bad idea. I mean if your 80% plus well shit happens but if your just holding a pair nope. not always about calling just cause your ahead at the moment

it goes back to Sklansky's theory of poker...."Every time you play a hand differently from the way you would have played it if you could see all your opponents' cards, they gain; and every time you play your hand the same way you would have played it if you could see all their cards, they lose. Conversely, every time opponents play their hands differently from the way they would have if they could see all your cards, you gain; and every time they play their hands the same way they would have played if they could see all your cards, you lose."

In your instance...getting it in good means you played your hand right and they made a mistake. In the long run, you will win. You made the right play. They did not. Did they get lucky? yes. BUT....that's the part of the game no one can control and that I'm sure you, yourself have benefited from at one time or another.

Getting it in good doesn't necessary you're guaranteed to win all it means is that you have a hand that has a higher chance of winning compared to most hands. If you're playing a freeroll for example, your AA may get beat a lot more by random hands making a set or straight of what-not. Does that mean getting all your chips is a bad idea? Of course not, given hundreds of thousands of hands you will win tons more than you lose. If you play scared like your suggesting you'll never win those big pots where you are mathematically making good calls and will usually come out in the positive, and otherwise you run a real risk of either never getting enough chips to be a significant threat later in a tourney or simply getting blinded out near or right at the bubble. Don't play scared, just know that anytime you get it in you have that chance of getting felted because it happens. I suggest you try to work on your confidence some so you can be brave enough to make those big calls or bets and then also work on handling though loses, hope that helps!

Sometimes I just wait until the table fills up and let the others suck, wherever they want.If only 3 ppl are playing, you can only loose. I wait until 4 or 5 tasty stacks appear and even premium hands are played very carefully or even folded.

It's all about taking calculated risks. No hand is 100% preflop. In tourneys the goal is to go as deep as possible (stating the obvious). You should always be looking to exploit villains based on their tendencies and relative stack sizes. Near the bubble that's when you should be a little extra cautious if you are a mid-stacker where one overly aggro play can make a difference betwn cashing and not cashing.

As a big stacker you should be taking advantage and stealing blinds. As a short stacker you should be shoving loosely if there are mid-stackers to your left. But even if there are no mid stackers you should be shoving liberally anyway.

---------

Besides the fold or play decision, once you decide to play the hand, the most control over winning you have is to "get it in good." After that, it's all lady luck's call.

Poker is a cruel game. Luck is on bad players' side. Bad players often make bad plays, so they need luck to win.

Most good players do not need a 2 outter to win because they would have likely folded, unless it was like an all in on the flop and you have QQ+ and villain flopped a set of 3s.

Hello, getting it in good is indeed the best thing You can actually do in poker.
It matters actually in how good You get it in. Shoving a set vs an overpair is a huge difference. Also in tournaments if you are deep stacked getting it in good preflop is bad unless you got AA, the risk is too big. With less than 20bi You should be happy with about any edge you have when you are all in.
You won't win everytime no matter what you do so making the good decisions in the long run is what you can do.
Good luck

If the opponent is trying to get you out of that range, he will have a very wide spectrum, and if you have a premium or a good hand, I would resign and be all in
