Lol, I hope you guy's are playing free rolls for the fun of it or just trying to begin a small BR. But for God's sake don't take that experience into a real tourney with a buy in. There's nothing like a FR. to put many on tilt. so please remember to separate the two. Do most agree that free rolling is NOT good experience for real money tourney's?

In a way yes. But if you play a freeroll seriously choosing well the hand of hands played. I see no problems to take it to live and assure that the live will be less bead beats

Those huge freerolls run by the pokersites aren't going to give you much real experience unless you get deep.

The freerolls here at cardschat play a lot like the $3 to $7 buyins.

Actually, I use free rolls to relieve stress believe it or not.
I grind MTT's (not recommended). I find after a couple of day's of tourney play with the intense concentration and everything that goes with that(head aches, eye strain, etc) that a few fun free rolls and a lot of chat to dispel all the frustration that goes with tourney play, it actually helps to bring me back to earth and refocuses me to remember that poker is supposed to be fun (which is easy to forget if your running bad). Free rolls helps me to laugh again and chat it up with aspiring players that seem to have more fun than regular grinders. there's still something to be said about recreational players that use poker for entertainment purposes only.
I'm still new to this site but look forward to posting my user names and poker sites once I feel more comfortable here. I belong to many sites but feel there's something special about CC..................I know I know...I should get a life too, lol.

The people in the freerolls here are pretty relaxed. Not a ton of chatting going on usually but it's almost always friendly.

The league is where you really get to know and have a laugh with people.

TS captain obvious ? It is clear to anyone that most freerolls is a waste of time but needed only for recreational players.

it just depends on what you are trying to get out of poker.

if you are learning game mechanics....nothing wrong with a freeroll. If you are grinding a bankroll out of thin air it's a perfect place to start.

I like the limited field freerolls (private entry, password etc.) because the value for your time is pretty decent. If you run deep you can easily come away with a profit that equates to more than $12 an hour...which is ok for a hobby.

the huge "everyone is invited" freerolls where like 5,000 or more people are competing for a first prize of less than $200? pssshhh.....I won't waste my time with these any more. What usually happens is if you run deep....you spend 5+ hours grinding and usually get nothing or like maybe $5-10. That equates to $0-$2 an hour WHEN YOU RUN WELL. If I am running good, playing good and outlasting 5,000 people in ANY form of gambling I want to be compensated in the kind of money that at least buys me a car....

:)

Freerolls can help set experience, but since no one risks nothing, then read an opponent you do not learn

On a poker site, I try freeroll of about 500 player each...
It took about 4 hour to finish...
I do not come to the paid place yet, who is the first 5 ...
I have to be more patient and dont try to bluff when I do not have the stronger hand....
The poor fact is on this freeroll, other player insult other often...
By chance, I can always desactivate the chat !!!
I hope that one day a will able to join the freeroll club of CARDSCHAT !!!!

Freerolls are mainly for recreational players. Professional grinders really don't have time for freerolls because time = money and spending 4+ hours to win a dollar is EV- for their lifestyle.

Especially when you are multi tabling real money cash games/SnGs or MTTs. Aint nobody got time for dolla freerolls!

I just binked the $10 on demand Black Chip Poker (Not ACR) freeroll 706 entrants and I took the top prize of $2.50 for 3 hours of work LOL.

I saved a screenshot, but I can't upload it at the hospital because of their proxy settings. I'll have to upload it when I go back home. I'm stuck in the hospital for several days. I even lost my public wifi connection for about 5 minutes headsup and the dude kept min raising me to steal blinds. I still came back and annihilated him to take first :D

Congratz on your winnings , I managed to play ACR or BCP freerolls while Americans are sleeping , cause there are 350-400 players when late registration closes .

Thank you! :)

It's amazing how easy these on demand freerolls are on BCP. You literally just fold every hand and watch as all the terrible players knock each other out with terrible hands. If you can play post flop with any edge it's even better. No need to take big risks for small rewards. There are always moments where you can double up off some crazy maniac that is shoving any Ace or any two cards for that matter during these freerolls.

I play a style of tight aggressive early on and when I become chip leader I play a LAG style and fold to any nitty tight player shoves, and I call the maniac shoves and take all their chips with better equity hands.

Should never be hazardous. Its a free opportunity to win cash. If you are playing FR like you playing cash games you might stress yourself out. Relax and enjoy remember most people in freerolls are vying for the opportunity to build their non-existant bankroll for free. A lot of people live in less fortunate opportunities than many members of the forum so going in with this line of thinking should never be a problem for mental and or physical health ;P

Being retired, I find that I plenty of time for poker. Free rolls are fun, and a way to pickup a few chips.

I like to use freerolls to work on my ability to isolate the weak players. That way when I get into the MTTs I can use that skill to build a stack.
