just play extremely tight. only the top hands. at least for a good while...and you're AA still might get donked out by a J6 shoving on you preflop or something. you'll often be pretty shortstacked by the time the blinds are getting high but by that point you know you can double or triple up a couple times with some luck and with some of those good hands. i know no other way to cash in these things but that's always worked for me

Tight play will maximize the time you spend playing, and get you deep into tournaments with too small a stack to have a chance. There are several threads on this site about freerolls, and I agree with those who say to take chances early, to get a big enough stack to do some damage to desperate small stacks in the middle and late going.

Just play solid poker, I've made the final tables twice in the 2700 person freerolls and gotten 5th and 6th. Haven't been able to take it down yet. There's really no trick. Just pick your spots wisely and hope your cards hold up.

funny Ted you should mention J6o donking out to AA, cause it just happened to me a couple of days ago.

I can't seem to crack the top 50 in this damn trny let alone make the money. I end up having to wait FOREVER for anything remotely to playable cards. When I get them, some uberdonk will call me with rags and will wipe me out. But what can you do?

^^haha yeah. earlier in the day in a cheapo sng, make a long story short, someone raised mid pos with a J6s, and i shoved with my AA, he shoves...he hits a straight with his 6...maybe before the flop he thought "oh sweet! a 6! i could hit a straight with this!"...maybe i should work on playing any hand with a 6 different now

I usually am a little more agressive early on while the stakes are lower to try and build a chip stack, all the while trying to dodge the all-in donks that inevitably come with freerolls. The main objective though is to get deep in the game, so a certain amount of restraint is definitely necessary.

Thats bullshit.. You should play very very loose.. Don't forget, most of the players here don't have real money on their accounts and are just a bunch of donks playing only the nuts..

You can raise almost every hand and CBet it..

I would say in the early stage of the game its better to be looser as my chip stack grows quicker... the problem is to keep on growing for the blind raise... shame there are not more donks later on in the freeroll

To each their own, but I've built 4 bankrolls from -0- by playing tight.

If I can get into a pot with a playable hand cheap, then I'm in for that. Easy fold if I don't hit. Most often profitable if I do hit.

Freeroll maniacs have no problem playing VERY loose. If they don't stack-up, there's another FR starting in 10 minutes ... somewhere.

No such thing as a 'normal' freeroll ... ESPECIALLY a Full Tilt $100 nlhe. 2700 players, payouts to 1% (top 27 only).

FT $100 FR = Madness !!

play it like you would any other tournament. Some are telling you to play tight and others are saying loose is the way to go. Freerolls are a good way to develope your game and strategy. Read up on the articles about the top 19 starting hands, read about late possition and how you can and should play more hands than the top 19 when your the hi-jack cut-off and button. If you really want to win study. Making it to the top 500 players is easy its when you get to the top 100 where it gets tough.

I've placed twice in the top 27 in the FT $100 dollar tourney. Just my 2 cents on that particular tourney-I've seen players that are very aggressive and build up their stack slowly, but surely over time.

When I did it, I picked my spots and went all-in, cause you'll need to double again and again to make it to about the 70 K mark at bubble time. And yes, imo, you're going to have to get lucky. Good luck!

ok i like to play the opposite. i will limp in to as many flops as possible. yes i play my top hands strong but SCs small PPs and pretty much anything i will try to see a cheap flop. if you hit bet strong if not bet the min and see what happens. i find i often have a huge stack early which allows me to go deep. i'm not saying tight is wrong i works too. i just find this style(in early stages more profitable). later on its steal steal steal. try to win as many pots as possible without a flop or showdown.

I normally play very tight to start with and only play top 6 hands. However if you do get top 6 hand you need to trust it at least until the flop is on the table. After that you have to play or fold according to what is going on around you. Ihave even sat out the first 20 minutes or so of some freerolls rather than get donked out of them.

I've had much better luck playing them tight than loose. Everyone else is playing super lag and it's relatively easy to sit back and patiently wait for the right hands.

play super tight and just move in with ur super strong hands as 99% of the time ur getting called by garbage. Start playing moe creatively and stealing blinds when antes are introduced in the 120/240 levels.

Play tight for the first hour. (tight aggressive) There will be plenty of donkeys in the field in the freerolls and you don't want to get caught up in the race to be the biggest lottery winner lol. But tight aggressive is my advice for freerolls. After the first hour start to really push around but be controlled.

theres no easy way to playing the freerolls personally i think those ones r just a whole lot of luck since it seems that most of the people playing them think that any 2 cards r good
