Hi guys ,

I'm playing poker for couple weeks and like everyone I started playing freerolls to build my bankroll.

I played 25-30 freeroll tournaments and my bankroll is huge 0,24$.

My strategy for freerolls was pretty simple - waiting for good hands and play , not wasting time with crap , try to build stack early , sit n wait and onw thing I can say - my strategy sucks.

My main problem I think is that I can't build my stack. In every freeroll in late part I never had stack above average and blinds hurting me like crazy.

Last freeroll: went all in with pocket Jacks and later limp , hit some aces and build my stack to 7k chips. And from that moment I got crap all the time. Blinds were so big that I dropped to 4k and went all in with AJs versus big stack with KJs.
Flop came 59JK9 , he hit two pair and I lost.
Please guys if someone plays freerolls a lot can you share some tips , advices n strategies ? I mean I know that luck is a big factor but It must be some good strategy.

that honestly is the best strategy in freerolls, you have to play ABC poker when you play such bad people because they will virtually call with anything. bluffing is a no go. even I will go into a freeroll and just bloat the end game stacks and just go all-in first hand if I'm bored

Yea I agree with the last post, you almost can't bluff because no one cares enough to not make the call as there not losing anything and seems like the higher the bluff amount it encourages people to call with any two cards because there priced in. Play abc poker and just try to get as much value as you can with your good hands. I just shove preflop with kings or aces and your guaranteed to get at least one caller for the shove.

It is possible to have a tactic to freerol tournaments where the players are too aggressive?

I know guys that life is good when you hit premium hands all the time but I usually have one or max two premium hands per freeroll and it's too little to cash.

if you're new to the poker, then I would recommend to you to start reading some good articles on strategy, in top left corner, "Strategy Articles".
If you're not new and just want to start playing and build your bankroll, from 0 to.... then freerolls are good for you to begin with.
You just have to remember, people do not play freerolls like other tourney's, since they don't have nothing to lose.
If you're mediocre player, you can succeed in freerolls,if you have patience, but do not forget, it's a freeroll and almost everyone will call you with almost any 2 cards, so if your AA got cracked by 27o, do not get mad, just bad luck...
you know what I mean
if you already have some $$, I think you have now $.24, depends where are you playing on, on which poker site, some may have some low lvl buy in, or micro tournament, or even with $.01/.02 games.....
anyway, I wish you the best luck

If you play on stars I would recommend poker school, they tell you how you should play in early , middle and late stages. I think mayb you should try playing more hands when in position, or try a different strategy, maybe playing a different style will work for you.Just dont play a lot of bad hands out of position. Best of luck to you man.

Im no pro so my advice might not be the best, but you got theres the internet which has plently info. Youtube some strategy videos, like gripsed. Hes good for beginners.

I also started with a freeroll and learned to play. Experience comes with time. Do not think if you pochitaesh books on poker at once become good igrakov. Articles will only push you in the right direction of the game. At different tournaments, different tactics. It all depends on contingent igrakov. Sit-and-go for example is very different from cash.If you will go for the last table, learn in advance to play the heads up (one on one).

I agree fully here, however, sometimes a C-bet in the later stages will do the trick, but usually, if they call that one, they will call you on the turn too.
If you see a lot of possible draws and none of them became reality on the river, a small bluff can put some people away too. But study your opponents before doing this.

If you play on stars I would recommend poker school, they tell you how you should play in early , middle and late stages.

I learned a quite a bit from that. Also from random articles from various pokersites around and now I'm starting to read some books.

Just dont play a lot of bad hands out of position..

Found out this makes a HUGE difference.

Hey guys new here and to the game as well. im wondering if it is possible to start a bankroll from a freeroll and build into a aspiring poker player?

I'm studying the game for a few months now and meanwhile playing some freerolls. I don't have the time to play them all though, because I still have a regular job too + I only play at pokerstars, because all the other sites that have good freerolls are illegal where I live, and the other legal sites don't have good ones.
I have been able to make about 15 dollars on this.
Another thing I have done is playing in the playmoney and build a bankroll there to be able to practice in higher buy in tourneys, but even there I find a lot of stupidity.
Once I think I studied enough, I will go for tourneys with a small buy in.

What I found is that a lot of people play free roll same way as many do play money. They often don't care if they win or lose and quite often will call all in even if all they have is low pair. At least that's what happens very often early on in the tourney.

You mean maybe they play the same on microstakes where buy in is 2-5$ (fish image) , I can't imagine how they call everything with real money ...

Your stratgegy of game is good, but poker it is partly a game of luck, so you can lose with a really powerful hand. My advice to you - try to play not so tight and improve your skills.

In freerolls the blinds will always get you, since freeroll have very short levels and the blinds go up 'too' fast.

Not always.
I have seen freerolls with 3 min, 5 min, 8 min blinds or even 10 min blinds on PS. 8 or 10 min sounds like a normal speed for me.
Maybe in other rooms it's different.

Maybe I lack of poker skills but blinds are always my biggest problem.

I can win big pot early ( like 6k chips) and sit n wait for premium hands or good spots to bet , if I can't get good hand or hit good flop blinds goes 600/1200 + ante and I must go all in with some random A8o hand

freerolls are beatable, but a slow way to build a roll
use position to your advantage (dont play any but the best hands out of position) raise weaker hands in position
pay attention to the tighties and the agros
bully the weak, trap the pushy
patience is a big factor
building a roll from freerolls was way easier back in the day,
almost worth depositing $20 and just start at the micro levels

I know the problem. I have the same at 3-5 min blinds, where I have to change to shove/fold play and where I usually get called by worse hands, but they make a straight (somehow it's always a straight).
When blinds are 8-10 min, I can more play my game, and most of the times I get much further.
