(this topic is just an opinion dont get too serious lol)
Is it a bad advice to tell new poker players to start from freeroll? Because every poker strategy will destroy here n theres no risk involved n that makes it even worse when they start in real buy ins tournament..They will not understand UPS and DOWNS n they wont calculate or focus and will end up blamming themselves to lucks n end up saying things like "He was bluffing last time i thought this was a bluff too"..it wont make any sense to 3bet or raise reraise most of the time players will just shove all in...u wont be able to play the way u learn in forums or books or school.. Im not saying freerolls are bad but u need the thrill to keep it going u knw...Whats ur thoughts?

People who say that the strategy does not work in freerolls - probably did not see "Flopmania" on 888poker, Blast in the same place, and many more "poker" (in quotes) formats, where the skill of the player does not mean anything. A freeroll with a normal speed of blinds growth and initial stacks of at least 50BB is no different from the usual tournaments.

Just my opinion but conventional wisdom applied to regular tournaments can also be applied to freerolls. Yes, you are prone to getting coolered more frequently than others but that doesn't mean that you can't run deep when you play good.

Not all freerolls are played the way people play in zynga... hehe

Just take for example the freerolls here at CC... players here play seriously and way differently from other freerolls.
The thing is if you start practicing on freerolls there is no risk of losing real money, and you get to see all type of players, how they play...... for free. :)

When I started, I just spend like $40 on pokerstars, and lose it all!!! Now I just play freerolls, to get some xp, and then I don't spend anything lol

You do not need to make any entry fee. At the same time, at these tournaments, real money is played out, and sometimes considerable.

I agree with Clasher entirely. The Freeroll will not give of course all of the sensations of the game on cash, but just the opportunity to play without risk your bankroll.

Freerolls are the best way to learn, in my opinion. It provides a player with the basic understanding to play. And it gives a player an understanding of all the factors needed to win.
