Free rolls, same old competition. Since at a given site, you will see the same names, grinders, in freebies. If you believe in taking notes, etc, to know tendencies, does anybody think that will matter only at the very end of the tourney, after all the donkeys have been eliminated? Thus, only take it seriously if being ITM is a possibility ?

It might give you a slight edge but only potentially. And with fields very big in freerolls, you have only a low chance of bumping into a particular player in a particular tournament. But highlighting what sort of player they are for future reference can't hurt.

Unfortunately in freerolls what counts most is luck... (this is even more valid if the tournament is turbo)!
Yesterday I played a turbo freeroll +4480 players and I was eliminated into 198th in a very ridiculous situation...
I was short stack in the SB and shove KTo, BB was short too and paid T6s... and the 6 hit in the river! hhahHAHAhahahhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrgghhh

The freerolls I have played have usually been turbo so after about 30 minutes the big blind is about the average stack so it becomes more of a game of luck then. Getting the cards when you have no choice but to be all in.

I’m sure the slower free rolls it would be beneficial to learn the tendencies of the frequent players.

I would certainly take notes on the players that you frequently see play. This can give you an edges in situational decisions. I would not do it for everyone, but would focus on players you are likely to see regularly.

i wouldnt waste my time writing notes for freerolls. take mental note of who you see a lot and just get a sense of how they play. most ppl dont take freerolls seriously so you cant complain when players do silly things.
