1. Healthy bankroll: a player with a healthy bankroll plays calm and without pressure that if he loses he can not play anymore ...! 2. Patience: Patience to wait for the spots indicated to play and not despair. 3. Emotional control: you should never lose emotional control ... a bad move can affect you emotionally and lose a tournament ... or a good move can cause overconfidence and end up losing a tournament .. 4. knowledge about the villains: you must be very focused and have a good reading of how the villains play at your table ... that will make you win many marginal hands ..!

pretty good action plan. There would not be the massive hotels built by casinos if more people followed this strategy.

If this strategy would be followed by all players then we will find no Casino or poker operator in this world.

Yea I mostly agree but if you are playing MTT then luck is unavoidably relevant.

OK - I'll REWORD this year 5 into online Texas Holdem.

ALL I do is write software- and engage in poker sometimes.

I like the scene in 40 Year Old Virgin where a geek can gain skills statistically, etc - and win.

BUT - I have to say patience HAS to be #1 for me

1. Patience.
2. Gotta want it Rita

#2 is from Groundhog Day where Phil Connors (Bill Murray) just casually throws cards and they all land in the hat - SURE he's been practicing for eternity for all we know, but he goes to Andi McDowell 'Gotta want it Rita' when she asks HOW he does that everytime.

3. Accountability. If you are going to challenge a bet, be accountable. If you lose, you lose, if you win, you win. Keeping oneself accountable will fend off unwelcomed emotions that can lead to tilt. Hey - you BET IT - YOU BOUGHT IT, don't want to carry accountability for a loss in a hand? don't bet.

4. Competence - play from experience - don't try and win every hand.

The fold is gold

See more flops in MTT early on and fewer later

Don't go all in too much

Vary your play depending on many factors but one of them is your stack size
