I have been watching my hand history and make some interesting conclusion: all situation when I get FOUR OF A KIND can be divided into two categories -
MONEY and NOT MONEY

No money category was when four card came on turn, and Money category was when four card came to my on the river!

You should ask me why? And I have an answer!

There is because opponent had no get any strong combination on turn yet...in addition to all you will be checked or make small Cbets with you set on flop and turn. And when four card came on the river your opponent obviously gets full-house or flushes vs your four of a kind and ready to go all-in.

I was in a Bounty/Knock out tournament last night.
I was dealt 66 in the big blind. The button pushes 3x for a steal.
k67 Falls on the flop.
He pushes, I push.
He flipped 77 to my 66 both set on the flop.
I thought I was screwed until that 4th 6 hit on the river so I think I'll go with the river...

There's a river card after the turn tho. You'll still have 4 of a kind? Just don't push them off their hand on the turn. Presto.

More cards on the table would open up your opponents to better hands, yes. And rarely will they suspect their opponent to hold pocket pairs and hit quads on the river. Great observation, however

I would think I'd prefer to hit quads on the turn, you get an extra attempt to get some more money in the pot if played right... But in an all in scenario in a heads up, seeing that 4th drop on the river is a great feeling as well!

Four of a kind is a very strong combination and everyone expects it with satisfaction!

four of a kind

I have four of kind twice and got paid both times but both were different situations...first time me and another guy were donking around with each other all night...I made a big preflop bet with tens to re raise him he calls flop comes T32...I figured if I bet he would think I was trying to buy it and was dead on he said I was bluffing...turn came another T which gave me quads and I fired on the turn and the river and got called both times...because of the earlier situation....second time I flopped tripped nines but the guy before me only raises with aces and the flop was A92....so yes I had a set but I read him bigger he checked I checked and the other guy in the hand bets and we both just call...turn comes a nine and now I know I got this guy he checks I check and the third guy checks...on the river comes a 2...the aces guy bets 30...I min reraise him to 60 hoping he will push and make it easy for me...the third guy folds...he pushes and checkmate...so id say it all depends on how the hand is unfolding when it is better to get them!!!

Sometimes, like yesterday, players get four of a kind with only 1 pocket card. Even though this is customary readable combination, opponents also can call your huge bet with thoughts about your full-house vs their "better" full-house.

So yesterday my opponent made huge mistake with re-raise all-in my bet.

You also need to add something to your evaluation. You need to see how you reach quads. Do you have two in your hand, or three on the board. Two in the hand is worth WAY WAY more and should be played differently than 3 on the board.

Also, any time you can add a bet, or allow someone to think they have caught up (but obviously didn't) is better for you in the long run, so hitting it on the turn is better. HITTING ON FLOP IS BEST! - two extra bets and chances for a false catch up.

Quads are hard to slow play for value on most boards, because at least 2 must be on the board so people are already suspect of at least a boat being slow played. Unless there are 3 to a straight or flush by the turn its hard to get any value and people will not bet their top pair or even their over pair here in most situations, so best to bet a bit and hope for a call or a raise (of course there are cases where your opponent has AA KK or QQ in their hand and you should be aware of this by their betting pre and post flop - if you suspect this then definitely continue to slow play because they will bet again not thinking you caught anything - works best when only 2 of the quads are boarded)

I think it's better on the turn, because in the most cases someone who has full house thinks that his hand is the best, and that's why you can rob his stack. Just let it to him to raise, and call, but if he is too agressive, maybe try an all-in. When it comes on the river the player who have a full house maybe raise a big amount of his stack, now you can go all in.
