Hi guys,

I have some experience playing live in California at the $5/$10 NL level with success on weekends throughout a multi-month period.

I am attempting to find a way to play for side-income online but for some reason perhaps the ease in aggressiveness that online poker allows makes my game alot less disciplined and I have not had success.

Another realization I had was that there are very limited FULL RING NL holdem tables online (mostly 6-handed) and with a very conservative style, this puts me in a highly dis-advantaged position.

I have been playing non-stop the $10.00 freerolls at America's CardRoom for the last month or so with an 11th place, 15th, 18th, 20th place and so many more close calls.

Should I have cashed yet (only Top 10 paid) out of 800ish by now if I was just an average player? I have around at least 50-100 attempts by now and come very close.

Is it possible to start from $0.50-$1.00 and then grind through the low limits to a decent roll- taking only massive amounts of time.

It has been my goal to do this for quite some time and I am fully dedicated to the time as I manage my business from home and I am by a computer multi-tasking alot.

Any suggestions? Tips?

The pain has been incredible with these very close calls only presenting themselves every few days and it seems that when I get a chance to cash I clam up and fold some decent hands 10/10 , AJ etc. for fear of missing the money and it ends up costing me the money.

Any help would be great!

I'm starting from zero - but on BetOnline. ACR's top 10 finishes are ridiculously hard to achieve in fields of 800 plus. I too finished 2nd table despite my best play a few times at ACR. Very frustrating. So, it's not a question of if you "should have" cashed yet. Were you short stacked going in to the final push? Maybe you can tweak your earlier game to build a better cushions? Were you just unlucky? Several factors may come in to play. For me at ACR, I was both unlucky and short stacked a few times. But, that's how it goes sometimes.

BetOnline I've cashed in 3 in just a few days and am up to $7ish dollars. A nice enough stack to sit at the penny tables and grind for a bit and see what happens.

ACR has a lot of other freerolls on there too. you may need to do a lot of password searching but you can find them. obviously if you use these ppls freerolls you should support their cause.

True. I'm hoping to play the CC ones once I'm qualified and all.

Grinding from nothing helps teach patience. I'm a big fan of learning from the bottom and working your way up.

Your time management is just as important as your bankroll management. Playing $10 freerolls is not a good management of your time. I mean a tenth place finish only pays 55 cents, not worth playing over three hours to achieve.

BetOnline offers daily $300 freerolls at 1100 every day. In the money, I think 30th place pays $3. Way easier to achieve as there are tons of sitouts to pick up extra chips along the way.

I sure hope you are finding freerolls better than $10. The $10 freerolls teach such bad habits when it comes time to play a regular game. Hopefully, you can get into some of CardsChat $100 freerolls. The payout would be about ten times higher.

Agree,
But I think the .01/.02 cash games are incredibly easy at ACR.
At betonline there are several guys waiting with 200 big blinds raising and bullying immediately and you cant buying for but 20-40 bigs....

Hi Photuris and welcome to Cardschat. Sorry if I missed your Introduction. Take a look at Full Flush Poker if you want to play in some good freerolls. And they run all day every day. There are not a truck load of players in then, and they run fast. If there are 500 players, it will be over with in 2 1/2 hours. Also, I've played there along time, and over all, I don't find as many "any 2 card players" as I've seen on other sites. I think you can download the site from here if you want to give them a try. GL to you
