Did I play this right?
During a online poker tourney earlier today...
My pocket hands were 2hearts 7 diamonds.
I call ($20), since I had a decent sized chip stack.
The Small Blind raises $250, the BB reraises all-in ($1425)
I fold ofcourse, at this point I only had 2,7 offsuit.

The flop turns over triple deuces-which would have given me quad deuces.

BB had a K,10 and won with trip deuces, king kicker.

I did the right play right?

Nah, you should always play 27 when you have a big stack. Limping was correct, folding to an all in was soooo foolish. What site do you play at and what is your screen name again?

Of course you played that right. The only way you couldve played it differently is if you had like 50,000 chips to everyone elses 1500, cause if you wouldve called an all in with 72 without having a huuuuuuge chip lead, you could consider yourself SUPERDONK. lol

You played it horribly. You lost 20 chips when you should have lost none.

don't worry about it. I fold pocket pairs preflop all the time only to see the flop set me, then the quad hitting fourth or fifth.

really frustrating...

BS

Gnomeace posted here to learn something, not to get sucked out by you -massimo- . Your advice is foul. Be ashamed.:banghead:

I don't know many occasions were playing 7,2 is of much help.
You shouldn't have been in that hand at any time.
Forget the hand you layed down - it will keep you from tilting.
And yes, I do see quads to a folded hand often.
Last time yesterday, J7o folded to a flopped JJJJ.
Damn, I should have forgotten that - :D

true story:
i was playing at a casino once and the guy to my right said I FOLDED A FULL HOUSE after he folded preflop and the flop came paired. i immediately looked him in the eyes and said, "it wasn't a full house when you folded it". he felt pretty embarassed.

Terrible fold IMO

If you knew that it was going to be 4 of a kind pre-flop (as the title of this thread implies) then that was a terrible fold.. why would anyone fold 4 of a kind?

However if your 'spidey sence' is only that of a mere mortal then why were you calling for with 7-2o? Terrible hand.. not even worth a call!!! (it is actually the worst hand in holdem)

Yeah I just say "no you didn't". If they continue to argue I ask them how they had a full house (or quads, trips or other such great hand) with only 2 cards.

hard to say, you only told us you had a decent amount of chips, you didnt say if the stage of the game was late or early,so how can i say possitively you played right or wrong ? chances are you did the right right thing. 7-2 dont play at any stage for me unless its a last ditch effort to stay alive when im near broke.

i dont care what other people say, when you win a big hand with 7 2 your confidence will go way up and so will your game. ofcourse fold it to a raise, but especially if you have a big chip lead, always play the seven deuce

OMG Wat?

His limping with 72 was horrible.
The fact he considered calling at all was horrible.
The fact he's looking at the results and saying OMG it would have been four of a kind is most horrible.
In fact, the only thing he did that made any sense at all was folding after incorrectly limping.

i think 2 7 off is the worst hand..so yea of course you should fold it, i personally think you shouldn't of limped just a quick fold

I had a guy fold A,J to my 7,2 at a live cash game a few weeks back.. with an A on the flop. :)

Nothing better. The 7,2 bluff hurts so much more than any other!

Just to follow up from that - I would never advise limping with 7,2 off though!

Once you fold your hand, put it out of your mind. Your decision is based on the information at the time, not on what the flop will bring. Luckily, my terrible short-term memory means that I forget my hole cards almost instantly, avoiding this kind of "folder's remorse."

Also, my terrible short-term memory causes me to forget my hole cards as soon as I throw them away. That, coupled with my poor short-term memory, means that this type of thing rarely bothers me.

Haha I know what you mean by folder's remorse.
Unfortunately, Pokerstats lets you look at your cards even after you've folded them (you obviously can't play them anymore). And while I used to just turn away from the screen while the rest of the hand plays out, I've found that it worked against me since I cant pick up subtleties of the other players while doing this.

Don't feel frustrated or annoyed that you would of hit Quads, you still made the right decision. You shouldn't of even called the big blind, never mind thinking about calling a raise!

Next time you get 7 2, fold it again. Chances are you won't see that flop again in a very long time, so don't let it affect your judgement.

The only way you can have quads preflop (and yes you should fold them):
