I hear flat and flatting all the time when watching poker. It certainly sounds cooler than just calling, but is it, or is it the same thing? Calling definitely has a lame sound to it, calling station, passive player, etc. Flatting sounds cool like even though you are doing something fairly passive maybe you are being tricky, clever, slow playing, going to make a move later, etc. At the end of the day though, aren't flatting and calling he same thing? Would love to hear what others think.

Flatting is usually when you aren't last to act and calling would be when you are heads up or last to act.

Also when you just call with a hand you would normally raise may use flat instead of call but generally they mean the same thing.

I'd add flatting is typically used in reference to a raise. You flat a raise instead of 3-betting.
