Entered a Holdem FL satellite to a $2k freebie at PS yesterday, as I mentioned in a previous thread I normally struggle at PS in tourney play but the FL format suits my "cautious" approach and after some 5 hours of play the bubble pops and I've qualified for todays final.

I manually register, shut down my comp and get some shut eye. I log on this morning and find the final is Limit Omaha H/L, a format I've never played before in my life.

"Note to self - LOOK WHERE YOU'RE GOING !!!!!!!!!"

Anybody any tips to help me from being a Omaha fish in 4 hours time ???
I've played a few "play money" games at FT to try to get a feel for the game but its not looking good.

1) Draw to two way hands.
2) Always draw to the nut low, unless your high potential is very strong.

Examples of 2 way hands:

KKQJ on a K94 board. This hand is a two-way hand, because there probably won't be a low out.

KKA4 on a K28 board. This hand is a two-way hand, because you have a decent low draw to go with top set.

A236 on a 45T board. This hand is a two-way hand because you have the nut low draw, and 13 outs to make a straight.

A279 on a 38K board is not a 2-way hand. You are drawing to the nut low, and you have no high potential. The only time I'd draw to a naked nut low is if you put 3 or more bets in preflop, or you are in a 5-way pot with bad players.

Thanks for that but alas too late, bombed out 20 mins ago, 3032 out of 7875, (I'd have finished higher if I'd sat out the tourney !!!!!) was blinded out by time I had a handle on things, shame because its an interesting game, will make a point to familiarise myself with other formats.

Next time you win a seat to a Stars Round 2, if you don't like the game that is scheduled, unregister and you can use that ticket for ANY future Round 2.

They run Round 2 NLHE's every Saturday and the Sunday games rotate around. A Round 2 ticket never expires.

You have always given me great advice on H/L in here but I am confused by the statements you have made below. I have bolded them.

1) Draw to two way hands.
2) Always draw to the nut low, unless your high potential is very strong.

Examples of 2 way hands:

You have always given me great advice on H/L in here but I am confused by the statements you have made below. I have bolded them.
2) Always draw to the nut low, unless your high potential is very strong.
If the flop is [4h][7c][Kd] and you have [As][3s][Qd][Jc], fold unless the pot is very large (4-bet preflop) and you're closing the action. You're drawing to only half, and your draw to half is easily dominated by A2. A ten on the turn is a better card than an 8 for this hand.

Even if you held [As][2s][Qd][Jc], your hand still wouldn't be that good, since you have no draw to a high hand. However, if there are 3-5 people seeing the turn, then you have enough equity to draw at half (and you might even raise).

Heads up, you want to draw to strong 2-way hands. Multi-way, you want multiple draws to the nuts. Heads up, a naked low draw (even if it is to then nuts) is pretty trashy. But 4-5 way, you can profitably draw to a naked low because now getting half is a lot more profitable and getting quartered doesn't hurt you nearly as much.

So if you're going to draw at a low, make sure its the nut low, and that you have some other draws to go with it. With Omaha, you're mostly looking to find flops that "fit your hand". So if you hold A236, a 45T flop fits your hand. Or if you hold AA34, a A2K flop fits your hand. You want flops that give you strong multi-way hands, with multiple draws to the nuts.
