I am looking to make my first deposit in the next couple weeks. I will probaly go with Full Tilt because I just opened a free account.

I want to maxmize my buy in value and take as much advantage as I can of deposit matching. I usually buy in at B&M card rooms for $400 - $600 so I am not too worried about the amount I start with. However this time when I start playing OL I want to take it more seriously. I don't expect to just walk in and dominate. I will probaly start at fairly small stakes playing mostly cash, but some SNG or small field tournaments. I was thinking about NL25 cash games & $8-$10 tournaments.

I usually play No Limit 1-2-2 $100-$400 buy in at B&M.

I would appreciate any feedback or links to other threads that may have already been discussed on this type of topic.

Thanks,
Darrick

deposit matching as in deposit bonus? If it's your 1st deposit on FT, in my experience it's quite easy to clear FT's bonus.

If it's bankroll you wanna know about.. read the article cardchat has on BR under strategy and there's also a video on FT academy on BR management by Chris Ferguson. You should have 20BIs so for 25NL you need $500 at least. $8-10 is like 2% of 500 so that's fine. But in my experience, you might need more than that.. depends on your skill (yes, i'm not very skilled >.<)

Sorry Nowuck. I want to get a good idea from people here as to what I should study before I buy in. I was trying to give some background on myself about my expereience & normal play. Ask me what else may be helpful information about me to know. I would like to open a dialogue to discuss my normal play and have some direction from peers that may give me some ideas that I have not thought of yet. Or someone to slap me before I do something stupid.

BR management will is one of my top priorities. I have seen the Ferguson video on full tilt. I have tried to do a few searches for articles here on CC but I have not been able to hone in on a really good one. That is why I would really like some good links.

I guess what I would like to discuss or to find is a step by step guide for on-line begginers. Things like: Best place to start. Opening account (1,2,or 3.. where?). Maximizing deposit matching (as in bonuses). Software to have. Differences between OL an B&M.

Full Tilt initial deposit is 100% and they also have IMP the best First deposit freeroll anywhere. It's normally played the first couple of days of the next month.
They don't advertise it and did not let me know so you have to look for it.

Well if your main focus is cash games you definitely want to get rakeback as you can get up to 27% back on full tilt, which is a considerable amount of $ everyweek/month and considering that the rake is quite higher at the lower limit games it would be a disadvantage not to.
Also always deposit the maximum the first time you sign up at any site so you can make the most of the bonuses.

+1

Don't miss out on this - I didn't know about rakeback when I first deposited - once you deposit, it's a pain to get rakeback, I'm on a waiting list.

So how do I get rakeback, or which one is best to use? Actually I just Googled it and I see that there are a lot of them. So which one is best? What are the major pros & cons of one over the other? Can I sign up for more than one?

I tried to sign up on Blackmoon(?). Is that similar to a rakeback? It seemed like some sort of sponsorship deal. Is that what rakebacks are about?

Well, the best poker room in my opinion is ap or ub because they have so many Guaranteed tournaments everyday. Sometimes you can get in with fewer players HEHE. hey we all want that. plus they have the best cash games i think with a good limit to what ever your bankroll is.

Anyway rakeback is another good idea. there are alot of places online that will offer rakeback to their members.

hope this helps out gl and hope to see ya on the tables
