Morning all!

Just wondering how people with jobs and other commitments find the time to study/read poker? I work full time, travel to and from work takes me 2 hours a day and I have a girlfriend who I travel across the City to stay with most nights.

I've bought a couple of books but I just can't seem to find the time to read them. At the moment i'm reading the Little Green Book for an hour a day in my lunch hour but I feel it's just not enough if I want to become a successful player!

hi, i understand well what u r about, i guess if poker is your passion and\or you just wanna\need improve your skills you should be ready to sacrifice smth for free time, i.e. sleep an hour less but devote this time for reading. This rule suits any hobby - one should put the priorities right.

many times I quitted poker because of the same issue - no time for upgrading. now I made my timetable in another way - devoting time to read theory\watch vods\analyze hands every day for about 2 hours.
gl just keep going:)

Quit your job, dump the girlfriend. Then you will ample time to study/read. Also you can pick up new hobbies. Such as looking for food in trash cans, sitting in a book store reading said books for free, and tring to stay warm by hugging up with homeless bob every night.

There is a reason some of the best poker players now, and "then" were so good so young. 16-21 year old's have very little responsibilities, and demand for there time. So .... it is what it is.

It's basically a matter of prioritization. If you believe studying is important enough, you'll make time and/or find ways to do it. For instance, could you spend one less night per week with your GF, or could she come to you occasionally?

And maybe think outside the box a bit. For instance, have you looked into whether you can get audio books on poker?

Audio books help me, and not just on poker. Check out game theory and strategy books too. Currently I am working through The art of strategy by Avinash Dixit and Barry Nalebuff. Personally, I find books like these very hard going and tedious to read so I tend to pick them up and read a few pages at a time. Even make it your "toilet book" take in the information at any given opportunity :D

i understant your point but i think you dont need to be nervous about that. If you dont have too much time, try to enjoy your launch time, or in your journey if you use public transportation. The most important thing it is not stop studying and you dont worry if you take a little more time than you expected before. Keep going gradually and you will see some results in your bankroll ;) Just enjoy all your little freetimes.
