Well, since we now have a SnG thread and micro limit ring game thread, I think it would be a good time for people to have a thread to discuss MTT strategy, goals, and progress throughout the month. So, here is the place.
ASSESSMENT OF JANUARY:
I began January specifically playing Single Table SnG's on pokerstars. I was having success in the Single Table SnG's when I won an entry into the Million Dollar Turbo Takedown, at which point I began playing 180-360 player Multi Table SnG's and large player field MTT's to prepare for the Turbo Takedown. What I noticed is that I am adept at playing in the Multi Table SnG's with larger fields. I also noticed that in MTT's, I am adept at getting through the early and mid stages, and near the bubble. However, I have not been successful at getting in the money in these events. Furthermore, if I would have gotten in the money, I would not have been in a position to where I would make it through the first pay scale. While that would be an accomplishment, it is not why we play poker, we play to win. So, i've decided to move my BR back to UB to play smaller player field MTT's, and get more accustomed to the longer MTT structure, and learn more about inflection points, steal opportunities, and playing with a bigger stack.
GOALS:
***BR: 100 $5 MTT's
Play in a minimum of 30 MTT's. I am hoping to cash in a minimum of 15%, and advance high in the cash at least 2 times.
***This morning, I played my first MTT of the month, and had a moderate cash of 3 buy in's.
***Learn more about late game play, specifically inflection points and playing with a big stack.
***Turn a profit, no matter whether it be big or small. Small victories are a plus at this stage of the game.
