Was having an OK night at the table. Up half my stake.

New guy joins UTG.

I get A4o in the hole. Everyone checks

I flop a straight 235

Thinking how to play this when UTG raise BB

I raise 2BB

2 more callers

UTG raises 10BB

I raise 20BB

everybody drops out

UTG raises 60BB

I raise 120BB

UTG goes all in on his first hand

Of course I call

Had a close call on the river when another 4 pops up but I cleaned him out on his first hand at the table on a max buy-in

He had a 2 pair from a 52

In his shoes I would have called instead of re-raising at 50BB

Getting cleaned out on your first hand has gotta hurt!

I have been cleaned out plenty of times but never on my first hand.

My first question is why is he playing 52 UTG period?

2nd question - how much did he have to pay pre-flop for the privilege of playing that hand UTG?

I have to add to Matt's comment as well. What were the stakes? Was this at casino or On-line? Busting out on 1st hand at table is not uncommon at small stakes, but so much depends on what kind of bankroll you have behind as well.

>>My first question is why is he playing 52 UTG period?

There were no bets pre-flop. Everyone limped.. He was betting on his 2 pair post-flop.

>>Just a few weeks ago i had a session where a lost an entire buyin on straight over straight on my first hand in the BB, A3 vs 63 245 flop

I am always wary of a straight when my hole cards are making up the lower end of the straight and the villain could have the other end.

Sorry, this was Zynga. Yes I know it is not real poker but it is enough fun for me. It feels real to me. I feel stung when I lose even though it is play money.

With such a map to go all in preflop is stupid.

First ever live game I played in an actual casino I lost on my first hand. I had a full house, but the other guy had pocket kings to make a better full house. I bought in again a little later and made it to the final table but didn't make a prize
