This is intended for all those players who think poker is a quick buck, and they'll run it to a million dollars within a year. Yes, I'm talking to you, you who just made his first $200 in a freeroll, you who just won $400 in a $1 tournament, even you who just won a $2000 in a $11. I'm talking to all of you.
Understand this, and everything will be easy.
Understand this, and everything will be easy.
1. Poker is a form of gambling. When you're gambling you must be well aware that there are risks involved. Your aim as a poker player should always be to manage your risk efficiently.
2. That said, its still a game, a skill-based game of incomplete information. There are a number of tactics, techniques, strategies that can be put in place to come out on top. These things takes time, you have to learn it like every other skills you've acquired. Your mantra should be "learn, practice, and repeat".
3. Treat poker with the same level of respect you have for your job. Now, when things go south in your job, do you go around b*tching about it. No! You find a solution (I'm hoping that's what you do. Otherwise, you've a bigger problem to deal with).
4. Always be willing to learn. I've been around poker professionals who would just sit there and listen when we talk about poker, as they like to say, "It's better to learn than to suffer the consequences".
5. And remember, its great to have goals in poker. Chase them with all your blood & sweat. But just don't go chasing fool's gold.
