I fell in love with the game of poker from the first time, that feeling when you sit at the table ready to compete ready to fight and have fun and maybe make a few bucks, political issues religion race dont matter here we are all equal we are POKER PLAYERS knowing that this is what is all about for these 2 4 or 6hours really comforts me BUT what happens when you play the game and realize that you cant do good without the knowledge of maths? Its all about the right decisions right? The odds the pot the bets.I suck at math im slow to this one,one day a friend of mine told me that i got no business playing poker if i got a problem calculating raised bets well that almost broke my heart i dont know if he's 100% right saying that but one thing's for sure i ll have to learn the basics whatever it needs to improve my game and not to look like a id..ot but lets say im perfect at math and fold there where i should my open-ended str8 draw the river can always bring me one of my outs but that aint the case right? Tell me if you are dealing the same problems as me.gl:angel:

The math that you need to enjoy playing poker is fairly simple. Would it be nice to go deep into things like combinatorics and the like? Sure, but it's just not required. If you're having fun, and you're able to play on equal footing with your normal competition, I say don't sweat it. :)

Cheers!

The only maths you need is addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and a bit of practice with an equity calculator (like knowing the probability of hitting your open-ended straight draw on the river, the probability you'll hit your flush draw when facing a flop shove, the probability your AKo will hold up against a range of QQ+ AK, etc.).

Do a bit of "off the table" study and try to memorise the probability of hitting various draws in various situations. It will really help you.

you need to know what pot odds and equity are. and how to calculate outs.
pot odds are : ex
you are in bb and the pot is 6 dollar but you need only to call 1 dolar that means you have 6:1( 6 to 1) that means you are spending like 1 unit to win 6 units which is very profitable.
outs are the number of draws which improve your hand
let's say you have an open ended straight draw on flop that means you have 8 outs in percentage is : 8x4= 32% to make a straight on the turn.
if you have an open ended on turn is 8x2=16%
just multiply a cards with 4 for turn and 2 for river :D reply if you dont understand or google them :D

I agree that all you need to know is basic math operations (addition, substraction and etc.) You can use equity calculator to make your life easier :)
It's free and really useful. You can download it here if you want. http://www.acepokersolutions.com/poker-calculator/
I think first of all you must be a great analytic and psychologist to win the games.

There are many simple math techniques that you can use to get you started. Once you know them, practice them even when you are not in the hand as if you were playing. The more you practice making the calculations the easier they will be and some you will just immediately identify cause they come up frequently. You will also naturally learn more about your opponents tendencies and ways to exploit them.

some of the worlds best live players dont focus on a lot of the math, but at the same time some of the best online grinders only focus on math
