Hey Everyone,

I am new to Equilab and was wondering if someone could help clear something up for me. When choosing a range you can select the percent parameter where it will control and create ranges given the top I guess "Equilab Rated" cards using the percentile slider. My question though is why do they have cards such as QJs being ranked higher than say A10o when calculating their equity vs. each other heads up QJs is 44% and A10o 56%? Does this have to do with multi way pots and being able to get a greater hand by hitting flush/connected cards in relation to flop and being able to continue profitably. Can someone clear this up?!? Thanks!!!

I think it's a combination of indeed as you say being able to hit the flop better (QJs hits straight/flush draws more often) and equity versus other hands. Indeed A10o is a favourite against QJs, but you're also pretty often dominated against other aces. So either you don't get paid too often or you might have a worse kicker when hitting your ace.

It's a raw equity calculator ,ATo is 62% vs a random hand QJs is 60% but most people open QJs utg and not ATo.Equilab also has A7o ranked higher than 55. So it's not perfect if your trying to determine ranges.Personally i don't use the slider, but if you do use it to build a quick 30% range for example just adjust the range very slightly. So it resembles better the actual range used rather than just the raw equity.
