Well today marked my first ever "win" (you'll see why I used inverted commas in just a second). I won $1.26 in the first Common Cents event over on pokerstars. Now I had a free ticket for the event and when I noticed the event starting, even as people kept signing up late for the event, the number of players alive began dropping fairly quickly. So I was curious: could you win any cash without ever having played a single hand. So I watched as the number of players started to drop towards 20,000 where everyone was guaranteed at least 99 cents.
In the last minute before registration closed, there were about 20,050 players and if you joined at that point, you would have probably not played a hand due to Hand For Hand play being initiated and having to wait 5 minutes for other tables to finish. So in effect, it was a no risk dollar at worst for those who decided to wait. Obviously though, you would get blinded out pretty quickly without at least one good pair of hole cards but thought it was quite interesting. Haven't had any luck today with getting good hole cards but hey, I've begun building up a bankroll!
I'm sure lots of you played and probably got a lot further than me (and are still climbing towards the bigger money) - let me know how far you got.
