Most people would say in the early rounds of a big tournament to focus on playing premium hands. I like to sprinkle in trying to get to see more flops for cheap when the opportunity presents itself. If I can see the flop cheap and make a hand of two pair or better, that is the best opportunity to make a big gain early in a tournament.
