First of all, apologies in Advance, I'm sure this has been covered but a quick search has revealed nothing.

I've recently bought this book, " Doyle Brunson's Super System 2: A Course in Power Poker ", Daniel Negreanu reccomended it and I saw it on amazon for $12, so figured i'd pick it up.

I understand the book itself is quite old, but is it still a good book to read to improve my game? I'm needing some reading material and I've seen what's been reccomended, but unfortunately bought this book before I saw what was reccomended, so curious to thoughts on THIS BOOK SPECIFICALLY, as theirs a miriad of information on other books already :)

Thanks in advance!

You have oldschool books like this which were great back in the days (LOL like 5-10 years ago)

But TBH I only think these are just basic poker books which probably will help beginning players, but if you already know a bit about the game, i would defenitely take a more advanced one!

Waste of time, this book describes how to play poker in the stone age, your game will only get worse, because now the era of software..

You should look for authors who play online or live poker currently and preferably that author shows good results in game now ( regular player) Book after 2012 release will be good, some books until 2012, can also help in the game, but very few of them ( like Moshman, Lee Nelson, Jonathan Little and so on )

^^^ I agree with this Super System is outdated. There are plenty of up to date poker articles, forums (*cough* CardsChat), and free coaching videos to watch to get your poker learning fix.

I disagree with most online players here. The book is fantastic, but you need to use it correctly. It may seem simple, but the no limit section is in fact very deep and not intended for novice players. Read it. Absorb the core concepts, such as aggression, playing in late position, playing your opponent, and varying your play.

Yeah, Im mainly a live player , not online, I don't know if that'll make much difference in todays day and age of poker with online players trying out at casinos more and more. Either way I think it'll be a good read and a good starting point, once its done i'll move onto some more modern books and reading!
Can't remember the last time I was so passionate about something aha
