Downswings

Quick Q:

How do you know you're on a downswing rather than playing bad?

You review your play to see if you're making more poor and sub-optimal decisions than usual vs the cards are cold.

IMHO, they are the same..... and both are matters of perception.

If you understand that, then you know when you are playing bad. I certainly know when I am playing bad. Then I take a day off from poker, and start in again with a fresh mindset. That's the plan anyway.

Personally, I use play money poker, RUSH/ZOOM style games, to wear down the bad streak I perceive myself to be on.

And yes folks, I still do play play money games. Real play money, as opposed to fancy play money.

Hand analysis. Use a HUD (heads up display) like Holdem Manager or Poker Tracker.
