Ok, so I am down about 17BI over 8000 hands and am just wondering if this sorta thing is normal, as I only have what I started with, which is 30BI, left.

Over the past week EVERYTHING that could go wrong has:

My AA vs KK vs JJ, the villains Jack's take it
My Set of 4's vs AK top pair vs 6 high flush draw, flush takes it
AA vs KK again
AK vs AJ
AK vs A7s
overpair vs middle pair
Top two pair vs top pair 3 kicker, runner runner flush
flopped straight busted by runner runner full house
etc. just so much stuff like this, between 70 to 97% favourite to win but no. And I've lost around 80% of my coin flips too.

The worst part is that often its with hands that should never be in there in the first place. I appreciate being outplayed and losing because it helps me improve my game, conversely it feels pretty damn sh*tty losing hard-earned profit to someone who plays 36s from the SB and calls on a flush draw with two players all-in in front.

And when its not a bad beat its coolers such as
hand is checked to river where a J gives my AK a straight, but villain full house.
AA vs JTs, JT flopped a straight
KK vs Q5, Q5 flops two pair
T5s in BB for a limping hand, my flopped flush vs higher flopped flush.

This week has just not been good for poker.

Before this downswing I had almost doubled my bankroll but am now back to where I started, and worried about how long a downswing can last, as my bankroll is now quite at risk if things continue like this, and because I am at 0.01/0.02 cash tables I can't drop down limits.

I know the tilt is not affecting my play because I'm doing SSS and its a pretty easy formula to follow even when you're pissed off, and before all these suckouts it was working very well. Just would like some info from an experienced player about how long this sort of thing can last.

I'm hoping this sorta thing is normal and just seems insanely unlucky because I'm a poker noob. Maybe a break till Monday is best. :(:(:deal::deal:

It is normal, and if someone tells you it never happened to them, they are lying. Taking a break just to catch you breath is a great idea. I have also done it. Do what I have done. Try to play some freerolls, and if you have the bankroll even some small buy-in sit and goes. I went for a period where I only played one table for ring games. I am holding steady, but I still try to play solid and not risk my bankroll just because I figure the bad breaks have to end. Don't be afraid to be a grinder and make slow progress. This is a marathon, not a sprint.

It's normal, don't focus in results, focus in the way you play your hands and right decisions! And don't forget to study...

yup downswings are def a reality for me as well-i remember back in the day on fulltilt befor b.f i had my very best month to date still on there site-over 1k-only to have it followed by the worst couple of months ive ever had -couldnt win nada was losing every flip-was getting called by less than marginal hands only to lose those-threw my coffee mug thru my moniter-i had to take a break for a bit after that-it also helped that i could begin to expect that that i would lose like that-that i was going to take x-amounts of bad beats from bad players-i do think over all your game should be gentle rolling hills with no steep uphill or downslides of course that not reality your going to go up n down i guess the trick is shifting gears when your on a downswing-maybe try getting proactive about it-watch some u-toobe vids grisped poker has some very good ones out-i tried to spend a few minutes every day back then only it wasnt grisped vid but somebody else-by doing that youll help your mind get off downswings and onto something more positive-it helped me some

ok hmmm

Ok so these are races pre flop
% means expected outcome and math seems to be important.
Any 2 cards can win ,especially pre flop and on>line.
48 hours AA vs Aq trip q
44 vs 23 trip 4s on flop runner 5 6 board 654
I consider flips a
My AA vs Ak loses middle of tournament last month.I was up 65k in first.
I had 85k the pot was 20k.So I lost that hand and was at 75k then after folding a few hands then a few pre flop all in flips losing every1 till I was at 55k.
I had to adjust to not flipping pre flop :) even with best hand or I'm out the tournament.

When interviewed, many pros even admit to being broke several different times through their career. It happens. Maybe even take a week off.

Variance is always lurking, ready to take a bite out of the bankroll.

Yep like everyone said, it's normal. Sometimes it can run two days or two months. I've had some long ones myself, but before that I had learned to protect my BR no matter what, and what Gan Lucas told you to play some freerolls and some low buy in MTT or sit n gos. Those will give you your poker fix and save you some money. I agree with every thing that has been said, so really there is no reason for me to repeat it. But there is one thing I want to say that's very important for us all. Every thing that happens at the tables, good or bad, as quick as you can put it behind you. If you don't, you will not be focused on the hand you are in, and the losses will continue. So it would be a good thing if you try that if you play some freerolls. GL to you

IT happens to all of us. Some of us think we are on an eternal downswing and have always been on one. (Its not true)

Keep plugging away and playing the hands correctly as you know you should be, it will all come back. If you find fear of a bad beat is affecting your decision making, its better to take a break than to play making sub-optimal decisions. Be aware if you are at this point.
