There are two situations that happen quite often in the micros and that I don't know how to react to.

Passive villain does not c-bet and I'm IP

Hero is BTN with [9s] [8s]
Villain is UTG

Preflop: Villain raises 3BB, Hero calls.
Flop: [6h] [7s] [As] Villain checks, Hero???

Passive villain does not c-bet and I'm OOP

Villain is UTG
Hero is BB with [As] [Qh]

Preflop: Villain raises 3BB, Hero calls.
Flop: [6h] [7s] [Ac] Hero checks, Villain checks
Turn is blank: Hero???

What are my options value wise to this situations?

Is this 'tournament' play?
fwiw I'm always betting here in this spot & am actually praying that villain has plans for check-raising me.. as I'd be happy to get it in.

My bad I didn't mention it's cash games.

Thing with that hand is that I can't see how I'm going to get value from it. We have so many outs for a monster that I'm quite happy to just ship it, but he didn't cbet what is he going to call with here?

Betting just to grab the dead-money is an option though... inducing a bluff from a maniac is not that hard... but passive players, is it worth it to make a small bet hoping he has a K or a underpair?

Hand 1: 100% betting here. Btw, we should be very happy with a fold on the flop since we have 8 high, iow, no showdown value. We dont mind a call though because our draw is huge and we have position.

Hand 2: As a default I always bet my value hands. Building a pot on the flop means a bigger pot to be won on the river. If they fold then oh well.

I'm assuming that you are donking that flop because the other villain is passive? Or are you saying that you are betting the turn after the checked flop?

Ya, opps. Didnt see that you meant OOP. If the guy is a passive station with low c bet stats then Ill bet but if they're a passive nit it might be fine to check on that board since it is super dry. Deffo have to bet any turn if villain checks behind tho.

What brank said, assuming a deepstacked spot. There's really no standard reason to check the flop in hand 1 or the turn in hand 2.

Flop in hand #2, I check to the UTG raiser most of the time if they have any clue what they're doing.
