example? both seem the same ?

like Is a donk bet calling a raise on flop then leading out on turn with something worse.. maybe catching backdoor draws that turn into gutshots or open ender? or just seeing what your opponent does..

whats your thought on probe betting? which is what I think betting to get information on an opponent? so in which case, isn't it like donk betting whether you got something worse, but doing it on certain positions or streets.

i was watching phil hellmuth here on the wsop main event 2015

Last hand of the video 41:00 he had like 76 off

and whether you like him or not, his play was very interesting to me just how he was playing. Seems like he was putting on a show on purpose to get his opponents to think certain ways, in which he bluffed the dude off who had 88, which was the better hand. Seems like he donk bet/probe bet just to get info to make his bluff work later.

A standard donk bet is usually a turn bet against the flop-raiser out of position. I think a probe bet would be a smaller bet to gain information, usually on the flop. They are both similar in that they usually are not used to put a lot of pressure on a suspected value hand.

They are a sure sign of mental retardation.

In live poker it might be different due to reads etc.

Donk bets are oop leads into the aggressor ,it can be on all streets. For an example you lead into the pre flop raiser on the flop or say it's a limped pot you flop a straight draw top pair bets you call turn brings you the straight and you lead out possibly loseing one bet from top pair hands and you give info to your op.

Probe betting by definition is a small bet designed to see where you stand. Example you have 109s and you decided to call a pre flop raiser flop is J 9 2 rainbow you can lead a small probe because this board misses a bit of his range and in general he will miss flops 2/3 time.

The difference is the mind frame what are you trying to accomplish donk bets are usually bets because their thinking hey I have a pair so I bet my pair and not thinking about op hand probe bets is I'm betting because I am thinking of his hand I just need to find if I'm beat. I would stay away from probe bets though because since it such a small bet any thinking player would raise with any two cards just to test you I almost never use it and do not consider it really effect.

Regardless of size, always raising donk bets is printing money. Reasons are obvious.
