After an extended break from online poker I found out my debit card would no longer work to deposit on Bovada or Carbon (DOH!). So while researching deposit methods, I came across America's Cardroom and their $10 freerolls. Since I am waiting for a NetSpend visa to be mailed to me I figured what the hell, even though I usually stink at freerolls and micro MTT's I joined up and started playing.

Long story short, I final table'd 2 freerolls (5th & 7th out of 700+) and then cashed in both of my first 0.10 and 0.50 tournaments in the first 2 or 3 days. That sounds all well and good but I feel like I am playing TERRIBLE poker in order to do this and I'm worried I am destroying my game. Something like a golfer shortening his backswing to hit it straight but losing competitive distance. Has anybody experienced this and have any advice or am I just crazy and over-thinking it?

Freerolls are affecting the game quality cause there is no danger for BR and it can be played loosely.
Losing at micro buyin tourney affects the BR but at micro level and it can be played loosely too

You're talking about destroying your game.
Looks more like you're adjusting your game to fit the circumstances.
As long as you will be able to re-adjust your game when you go up in stakes, you should be fine.

I advice you to play the Tuesday freeroll and dont waste time on open freerolls.
Best open freeroll I can find is on BWIN. You have to make it to final table and finish at least fourth against 200 players (about that). Not that hard as it sounds when most players eliminate each other quickly, so you just find good spot and wait to double up or better, but you need to be in UK.

I feel like you should play your best poker, regardless if it is a freeroll or playing for fun with friends. If you play your best poker at all times, you do not develop bad poker habbits
