As we know, that we all start off with some play money to practice and see what poker is about.
But after topping up your account with real money, do you leave out the play money? Or do you still use the play money as a way of practicing poker?
Let me hear.... [emoji12] [emoji12] [emoji12]

Poker is a game for money. Play money is not poker.

On playing money I play only with friends in the Home game. We are subject to certain sums of money.

So as I have been playing on Global Poker almost solely right now I do occasionally use their play chips for the purpose of gaining access to specific tournaments. If you see 200 flops throughout the week in thier play money (Gold Coin) games you get access to 8 tournaments held over the weekend with buy ins ranging from $3,30 to $33. There is also special leader boards for these tournaments with additional prizes for the top 5 performers in these events each week. Also if you are bored and want a new avatar they make you use their play money to buy new ones so some people end up doing it for that as well.

The play money hands also count towards their daily ($500) and weekly ($5000) $0.11 buy in "Bonanza Tournaments" so if you have a small bank roll it lets you play for cheap. I won $23 last night in the weekly one for 16th and the winner is normally well over $500. Not bad for $0.11.

Personally, I never played chips. I immediately started playing for real money. And I do not see anything wrong with that.

No way ive never played play money for any type of practice, its not going to help you.
Very rare youll get a game that even resembles poker.
Probably going to hurt your game more than help

I collect play money and use them fore training and sometimes i will test if a slow connection is ok to play on. If it runs with playmney, it is ok to play with money.

Same here. I play with global pokers play money only to access real money tourneys.
You can't really use play money games for practice, unless you just want to learn the rules, because players in those games are crap Shooters. They play every hand and just rely on luck. No skill at those tables.

Play money poker is purely for entertainment - you can't learn how to play poker playing with a bunch of people who have nothing invested in the game and no real reward for playing well.

I don't think anyone should attempt to practice with play money. I don't even recommend a new person to learn the game that way. Too many "players" just hoping for an exciting win cause it means nothing to lose.

I have played only once time, during a day, with play money, and the reason was to meet and play against players from countries prohibited to play real money games on PS. I was wondered to chat with them and get their standpoints of some things in poker matter. That's it. IMHO poker with play money is reasonable and interesting to play on some social media sources, applications and platforms unifying the people, friends into some kind of assotiation or group, and get fun in this community playing poker with them. For instance, If you can't meet each other often in real life you can hang out with same people in internet playing poker. Why not? It's an option, in particular if both of you likes poker. Last but not least, play money poker is impractical for the way targeted to reach a goal in terms of efforts in relation to results=prizes.

Instead, it's better to visit the strategy on the forum. Watch Ryan Laplante's Poker
in YouTube. If you play on Play Money, then only if you participate in CardsChat events, such as Double Trouble or League. At this forum, all conditions are created so that we can improve our game.

Think freerolls are vastly superior for practice than play money. I would go as far as to say play money is horrible for practice.

I still like to learn concepts for mixed games using play money. I pretty much only play NL Holdem so I’m probably not profitable at other games, meaning play money is a good option. I don’t play holdem for play money though.

I still use play money sometimes to practice or try new strategy out but I use high buyin level they take it more seriously there.

I also use non Cardchat freerolls too to practice but sometimes the play is just too awful in them.

Gameplay with play money is nothing near real money, so it honestly seems pointless.
