I have been playing a long time and the one thing I learned that helped my mind stay calm at the table is dealing with tilt. The Poker Mindset is a great book that every player should read after learning the game and playing at least a couple rounds on the felt battlefield. Learning that Downswings are not real but in actuality Tilt is tricking you into playing bad. I have learned to do this before i read the book but as a decent player reading it reinforced my confidence in my game. Knowing what tilt is and being self aware enough to nip it in the butt before it hurts your game. So i ask Do you know when your on tilt. Do you let it own you or have you learned to keep your calm on the table and always play your best game.

it's very easy, just don't do it... i learned this without the need of wasting my time reading a book. you just need a tactic to use it in all circumstances. if you fail just try again and again and it turns and habit.
however, i think the hardest thing is to find a solid tactic, most of the tilts come when people are not sure of the way they're playing.

I'm usually aware of my own tilt, but I haven't gotten to the point where I can use that awareness to stop it. Tbh, lately even the prospect of trying to play tilts me, and I don't know why at all... :(

Yes I do but sometimes the power of tilt is too strong and I can't stop anyway.

I made the mistake recently of playing after I learned that a good friend killed herself. We are both Jarheads and former cops. This took me really quickly to realize that I was making wild calls that were not good. After a couple of tournaments I quit playing.

Now, making comments about someone reading a book is a little bad to do. If the book is about mindsets, this can help someone understand the psychological aspects of others. Back in the day of 5 card draw still being somewhat common, psychology was a massive part of the game. The ones of us who played more than a few hands had to understand how to deal with others. I had a guy that was a very good player who was risk averse, so him going all in as the aggressor or the defender was wrong. I was able to win pots when I figured that out, which was nice to know when the rest of his game was pretty much on point. Learning about the mental aspect is just as important today, especially if a person is playing live.

I have not read any book, I remain calm because I signed up for this myself, poker is tilt.

Great approach to business :D

First, you need to understand what exactly is driving your tilt. And, most likely, these are your own mistakes at the tables. In this case, learn how to pay attention to them, adjusting your game. And soon, your tilt will turn into your spider instinct, and will protect you from repeated mistakes.
If you are so nervous about every hand you lose, you shouldn't play poker. Health is more expensive ;)

Oh Yes, what poker player doesn't know it, this great and terrible tilt :D
After a few years of playing poker, I learned how to manage tilt when I started playing, and I had a violent reaction to losing, and this state could last all day, and the worst thing is that I couldn't stop playing, I played tilt until I lost all the money. And a few years later, now I can manage this state, now during losses tilt lasts about half an hour, at this time I just leave the computer and go to drink tea and have a snack, and when I sit down to play poker again, I'm fine, everything is under control, and that would again not break start playing mega tight, this is my way of dealing with tilt, it works )).

Yes, I know when I'm on tilt, but that doesn't mean that all the times I can control myself. But I'm lot better now than before, most of the times I just stop play when I see that I'm on tilt and I'm doing wrong plays or playing above my limits.

During the many years I spent playing poker, I was tilted many times. However, it has become less and less common in recent years. I don't think I got tilted this year.

Unfortunately, I haven't been in a good mood for a great game for a long time. I understand that I can't play normally. That's why I don't strain myself too much. I play as it turns out.

usualy I realize, but also fail to stop when I know Im on tilt and see that the session is going to a disaster. but recently I started with going out for a walk, like reset, and every time I do stop and catch some fresh air, it turns out to be a good idea

I do realize that I am on Tilt, but that doesn't stop me from making bad betting decisions. I don't play ring games, so I don't have the option of just leaving and coming back later.

Usually it will be something like shoving with AA and then someone with 72 calls and the flop ends up being 772 or something similar. I have the worst luck with AA so I try not to shove anymore. But after something like that happens, I will be tilted for either the rest of the tournament or until I build my stack back up.

Very rarely will I be able to be completely calm after a bad beat or similar, but it does happen sometimes. I just try to not let it bother me and move on. I have had large stacks then lost almost all of it (down to just a couple of blinds), but still made it pretty far into ITM. So for me, its just trying to stay patient and wait for my moment to get my stack back. Don't try to get it in one hand in most circumstances. That's usually where things go bad.

Often tilt is understood as the anger and frustration, we feel after losing. But this is actually only part of the equation. What really matter is something called the execution gap, which is the difference between how well we can play (A-game) and how we actually play (B-, C-, D-game). And this gap can increase due to many reasons including but not limited to:

a) being angry and frustrated after loosing

b) being scared after losing

c) being overly confident after winning

d) playing to many tables at the same time

e) being drunk or hungover

f) being tired

g) feeling bored

My personal experience is, that with time it becomes easier to manage all of the above and make the decision, that now is not the time, I should be playing poker :)

Once I heard a podcast with a female pro player and she used to throw her notebook out of the window of her building. So, when I want to do the same I realize I tilted! ^_^ Well, screamming alone at my screen also means tilt (and probably madness).

Hello. I know when I am feeling tilt coming on. I try to control it. That takes practice. First realize I am feeling that way and keep from going there.

Usually yes, but I am very good to lie to myself, because I just don't want to stop playing. Nowadays I don't need to be that aware of my emotions because I have set some bankroll rules, like stop-loss stop-win. I am not trying to avoid tilt, I try to play good poker even on tilt. That's my philosophy

When you get on tilt, you don't have to try to resist him. This will only make matters worse; you just need to take a break.

Sometimes I stop playing and I take a break, sometimes I don't and I make wrong plays and I lose money
