That was the worst answer I have yet to see on CardsChat forums lol. What I believe dunning was trying to say was well "no": pros won't waste their time on 5 cent games (usually) because they are not going to make a living off playing 5 cent blinds they are good enough to play higher in the juicy games..

Playing 5 cents .2/.5 is usually low in skill because there isn't much fear in it if you go all in its 5 bucks but in the bigger games if you go all in its anywhere from $100-$500.000 or more and this is where skill comes in where people won't just say "why not" or "who cares" and this is where the best poker is played..

That being said just because its low stakes doesn't mean you won't encounter a good player just like just because its high stakes doesn't mean you won't encounter a bad player.

but for the most part .2/.5 won't be filled with sharks

In general, the lower the level, the more "bad players" you will find. In general 5NL is considered to be easy. But also unpredictable(which might make it a bit frustrating at tmes).

5NL has more fish than other levels but dont think its super easy either. nowadays, alot of people study the game alot at all levels so it wont be a walk in the park. The fact of the matter is that the easiness or difficulty of a level depend on what level of game you are at yourself.

I think it is also fair to say that good players or experienced player playing this level will probably be multi tabling. So lots of their moves will be straight forward - raising on the button if no one else has, c betting after a raise, getting all their chips in if they have the odds on a draw, etc, etc

I think you would be better at this level making sure your game is solid. For lots of people playing these stakes it is for the excitement and enjoyment, so as said earlier, don't get frustrated if your pocket AA is called and bust by 72o - to the guy playing 72o it was a bit of a rush :D

you wont find pros but you will find good players trying to build a roll to jump stakes. I advise you to build a roll and move stakes also there isn't much in micros but bad beats and people who don't care

I wouldn't worry too much about really good players at 5nl. There will be a rare decent player, likely trying to build up to the next level, but most players will be there just for fun. Even the "good" players at 5nl aren't that good.

That was the worst answer I have yet to see on CardsChat forums lol.

I've seen much worse personally. I was recently told I can be unclear and hard to understand so in this instance I thought I'd try being more direct and to the point.

Indeed. One of the great things about poker is that anyone can play any stakes they choose at any time. The different tiers of player ability naturally separate themselves because anyone capable of a $58 hourly isn't going to instead choose to make $3/hr. For the most part, unless you're Chris Fergie doing a $0 to $10k challenge or you have a prop bet to win playing X number of hands with a 100% VPIP, the players at 5NL play there because they're not good enough to win at higher levels than that, or in some cases they don't know if they're good enough to win at higher levels.

I know of at least one individual who plays up to 1000NL and sometimes plays as low as 5NL (as recently as a couple of days ago in fact), but to call this person strange would be an understatement.

They might play those games just so they can get sucked out on every other hand to work on their tilt control, without having to put up much cash.

on 5nl tables on Stars you'll actually find a sh1tload of micro players who've moved up from 2nl and have played 100's of thousands of hands & are huge nits (10/8). There's definitely a difference in the play depending upon what site you're playing on.

If you're completely new to cash games, it won't be a complete cakewalk playing 5nl on Stars.
