A very common mistake made by beginners is to think that you have already put many chips in the pot, you can not give up the hand anymore. You can not win a pot by just putting more chips in it. There may be cases where the pot odds justify a call, but if you are sure you will win the hand, there is no way to improve your game if you are not so sure you should leave immediately. The money you have put into the pot is no longer yours, and you can not get it back just by playing a hand to the end.

Actually beginner does not have this concept because he does not know well what to do more the more you put chips in pot where you do not have a good worse you do not have to put many chips in a pot if you do not have a good hand because surely this will To be expensive for you usually beginners do not loose their hands easy for not having this notion # avoiding the bads of beginners

I agree, precisely for this reason I decided to write this post, to extend the concept, which for me is important, many beginners think that to win more chips should be playing more hands which is not true. I appreciate your participation:)

I agree with this. It's best to think of the money you've put in as no longer yours and figure out the pot odds that way. Trying to win your own money back with a losing hand can get expensive fast.

Chips in your stack are more valuable than chips in the pot.

Thank you a lot for this post. I think it is really important lesson for all beginners. I find it very difficult to let go of a hand into which I put a significant part of my stack. Especially if I am holding a monster hand.

Yes I agree this is an important lesson. And it's really hard when you have been card dead and you finally pick up a hand and after missing so many flops you finally hit your Ace with say AQ and you bet and get called and you bet and get called and then they raise and you just know your top pair is not good when they probably have a straight. It takes a lot of discipline to lay it down, but you are right, it is an important lesson.

The perception that your chips are currency is a common mistake,,,they are a tool to make more chips, that`s all they are,,as are your cards. They are equal to the `car`or `thimble`and dice in monopoly. Think about it;)

Must agree.. itäs hard but one should be realistic about odds and act accordingly. AA may be good for preflop but afterseeing flop sometimes must be folded.

These are all good points. But don't forget to put yourself on the other side. Poker is war without as many guns or blood. There is profit to be made by taking advantage of players who won't let go of their losing hands for the exact reason you pointed out. Make them pay for the lesson.

Fold protect stack and range. Some folds are easier than others, its important to balance your game.

I'm no pro but to add to this don't fall in love with an Ace. The amount of times I see people losing with an Ace and 6-9 not even suited is crazy.

One old sage reflected once that it is better to look for ways of folding, rather that ways of winning

Personally, I hate letting hands go after putting a certain amount of my stack in, and with extremely low SPRs. But, even I can recognize a hopeless spot.

To avoid such stupid situations when it can't fold, it is better not to get into the giveaways! Or you play all in on the flop, or if not confident in the strength of the hand just fold, having some chances! And the game lucky or not is not poker..

It is also important to note how your opponents behave, which correctly identify how your opponents behave is hard as hell.

Like there's no point bluffing a call station, since they always call. Or if they're tight players and bet high out of position, it's quite likely they have the nuts. And so on.

Reading people is hard, either on poker or in real life.
