I almost exclusivley play NLHE but i was wondering if i should dabble in some other poker games to gain diversity and to hopefully accumulate more knowledge that i could carry over to NLHE. I rarely play NL Omaha and I've recently played no river hold em'. I've played just enough to understand the two but i've never played games such as Chicago or 5 card stud. My question is would it pay in experience to become a little diverse?

Knowledge that applies to other games does not necessarily apply to NLHE. Mixing it up could be good to keep your own interest in poker up, but beware that it doesn't confuse you as to what the best strategy in a particular game is.

I'm a former fixed limit player. Transition has not been as easy as I had hoped.

I would stick with Holdem games, but try to play some limit poker. Limit teaches you the basics about position and odds. Once you have a good handle on this, it will help when you have to make a difficult call against an opponent.
