In online you play more hands than live,so you need to play tight ,few hands,in position, and the most important thing is to wear you`re lucky underwear, hehe, for me is working

Online you can play more than one table and with stats. On the other hand, you can not speak with a person and you there are less possible tells.

Anyone I have spoken to have all said that online and offline poker are like chalk and cheese, and even good players may be better at one, but less profitable at another. I think if you're a player who relies on HUDs etc; a lot then you'd probably struggle at first at a live table.

bet sizing and pace of play are big differences. Need to track chips in the pot and in front of your opponent.

Why its harder online

Playing online is harder, because u cant see your opponents. There are no live tells which u can rely on, and your opponent is more likely to bluff. What works best for me is to play really tight, I use this chart: http://www.pokerstrategy.com/download/content/artikel_daten/charts/ps_bss_tabelle_gb.pdf and make good lay downs if my gut feeling says im beat. I get a lot of money in while i think im ahead and want to defend my hand. And I get little money in when i have a weak hand or i'm making a bluff. If u want to become good at online poker, follow these steps, play tournaments with buyins of 50$ or more, and practice, practice, practice! You will probably lose money at first, but if your passionate about poker, have patience, and you really want to become good at it, you'll start making money eventually.
Good luck!

Live is much easier for me because it is easier to focus and you always need to be in control.

Being able to rant at bad beats and chuckle and letting out emotion while cathartic at times can be a hinder to focus.

I find people in person play a lot tighter.

As for betting, fewer min raised in person. But, also fewer all ins.

Everyone says online is easier or live is easier... Find whats comfortable, neither is "easier"...

Online you can Multi table, you can make more money this way if you have the concentration.
Online you see more hands.
Online you have a HUD which gives you all the information you'll ever need.
Online you can keep track of pot and stack sizes easily.

Live you can play a more mental game
Live you can socialize more and spend more time with players at a table and learn their game.
Live you can make a lot more money on weekends and still have fun doing so.

Online is more of a maths game, you shouldn't play out of position without a big pair (especially in microstakes), but live you can loosen it up and play out of position if your mental game is strong.

However alot of the players here don't have casinos nearby, so online is the only option.

I had this problem, when I made the transitions to online poker. I was not used to losing in poker, and online I found myself losing a lot. The main thing that I realized, was that unlike my normal poker tables that I play at, no one online knew who I was, and they showed no respect for my game. Once I realized this, I had to revamp my poker approach. I had to learn poker from online professionals, and went back to school. I didn't realize how much there was about poker that I did not know. So my best advice to you, is relearn how to play poker, and you'll do fine.

It's going to depend on how you view the game. For me, live is VASTLY easier, and more enjoyable. It's just difference in the game play. I think if you want to strengthen your fundamentals, get more experience, and do it faster with less overall risk - online is the way to go. If you know how to find angles, get live reads, play the psychological game, enjoy being in a social setting and focusing on the ins and outs of one hand at a time live will be more fun.

I think playing live is harder. It's really tough to evaluate how well you are playing live, since a 6 hour session is likely to give you a 80-120 hands, while online you can play over 2 thousand hands depending on how many tables you are playing at the same 6 hours. Easier to adjust, easier to make quick adjustments, easier to find another table if you are not comfortable playing at the table you are playing at the moment (tougher than you want it to be, looser than you want it to be).

Also, a live table has this hostile vibe that I don't see online. Smallest fish, turns into the biggest shark when he knows how to rattle you.
