Hello!

So after a while of writing and reading on CC I have come to the realisation that I have much to learn.

My desperation to improve is only outweighed by my frustration when not improving and so I have hatched a plan!!!

I intend to play a couple sessions daily and upload a hand from each session to CC for analysis.

The hand might not necessarily be a bad beat or cooler but I will look for the hand that I feel the least comfortable with or the hand that I could most learn from.

As always, thank you to the people who read and respond you've been most helpful!

Nicebrew.

At the risk of sounding obvious, what steps are you taking to improve?

The steps I'm taking to improve are as follows

- I sit and review hands after every session.

- I read a lot of poker strategy on here and in books.

-actively seek opinions from better players than myself.

the most important lesson

learn to play from and use position. be disciplined. play tight until you get good. Position is key. play the most hands from the button always!!!

Ok, so in my opinion you need to learn about the mos basic strategies to beat the microstakes to start with, then gradually add slightly more complicated theories as you start to win. I am inclined to say that self hand reviewing might not be overly useful until you become a winning player (though of course there will be arguments to the counter). My reason for saying this, is that I imagine you are in the sitting between the unconscious incompetence and conscious incompetence stages of learing, as illustrated below. For example do you understand about the different levels of poker thinking?

If you dont know what you are doing wrong, it would be very difficult to improve by reviewing your own hands. Of course asking opinions of others and reading strategy is very useful. However, you need to apply the correct strategies to the game you are playing.

My advice would be to watch the longer splitsuit videos on youtube. He breaks down and really simplifies the game of poker.

I have to go along with every thing starting at the bottom said. Every player has to have a starting point. If you don't know where you are going, how are you going to get there? And don't think for a minute it's fast learning to be a better player. I started 3 years ago working on mine, and I know I will always never stop learning, but much of my worst problems are BETTER but still not completely under control. I have to say that almost everything I have learned was from right here and at the table. Take the advice you get here to the table. It really works. GL to you
