Anytips on dealing with tilt? Seems like i play good until a bad beat then i start playing bad. Earlier i was up 1.5 BB in .10 cent .25 cent on bovada and a guy raised 3x the big in early position. Im on the button with AK of hearts. I reraise 3x his raise and he shoves. I call figuring he had 10s or something like that and he has AQ off. The flop comes A of spades 2 of clubs and 6 of hearts. The turn is J of diamonds and i bet you can guess what the river is... Of course the queen of diamonds. After that hand next thing i know im down 3 bigs and playing terribly. I know im not the only one who has this problem. Thanks for the help in advance!

Stop playing, quit for a while, or rest for a whole day, playing sports, or PC video games instead.

I was out of poker for a month or well three but I notice today I have not hit tilt once since.

One occasion I said in the chat after that bad beat I will play as if tilted. Ended up in the cash for that tourney.

Just try to relax, watch TV or go to sleep. Helps me a lot after bad beats.

I find that before a session I make sure to talk myself into the fact that the bad beat would happen. Almost preparing myself for the inevitable bad beat so that it would not be a shock to the system in a way. Prepare for the worst that way i will not dewrail the way you play. Almost a cost of doing business.

I wouldn't worry too much about losing with the best hand.

This is a very bad habit the best attribute a poker player can have is discipline
assuming they have very good positional sense and solid knowledge of poker.

You should be proud to be able to fold pocket jacks, or even queens given the correct situation in like an MTT,
Ace king is a drawing hand and can be beat in a toss alot of the time.

best advice I would give 3 things il list that work for me.

*dont get attached to any 1 game the only thing that matters is if your making the right decisions. AK can be played hard and fast preflop or slow if your capable of folding when your beat.

*Your probably exceeding your bankroll if your getting emotionally attached over a bad beat. If you had 100 buy ins to the level you played your not gonna like cry over one bad beat etc - which will Help tilt hugely

*be optimistic about the bad beats you get, especially if they have terrible holdings, these are players who will give you all their chips when they have a a bad draw, or a bad top pair

The resolution for tilt cannot be said in one sentence. It is a complicated metnal issue. The permantent solution is not to just quit or something. You need to
find to reason why you went on tilt.

I can highly recommend the book "The Mental Game Of Poker" by Jared Tendler, which goes into detail of all the forms of tilt and it gives you techniques in how to prevent them and recognize tilt is coming before it happens, because that's what you want ultimately.

Good luck!

If you play ring game, you can stand up and go out, listen music or something like that.
If you play tournament, try to forget that hand, witch made you tilt, and keep playing.

Best thing I ever read is the mental game of poker. Essentially if you are tilting bad it is too late and you must quit until you feel better.

I am not going to go into detail, but you want to be preventing tilt before it happens.

Some kind of notes to read each day before even starting about what makes you go on tilt, and why it is illogical is a key tool to have.

If you dont deal with the underlying mental issues you will never be cured from tilt.

I just take a break, ponder my losses, and get back when I feel confident and ready.

If online, I log off my account, log in to DoTA 2, destress with some hero kills and/or do yoga. Somewhat helps.

Live games... I just stop, get up and go home.

I think my friend has the book that starting_at_the_bottom was talking about and he said that it really helped him manage his tilt before it even hits.

if i'm tilted, i leave my laptop asap and either lift weights, drive somewhere and get food, watch tv, and play video games. i'm used to bad beats though so this doesn't happen too often

there's a lot of different type of tilts most common tilts are the anger tilt, there's also a running good tilt where you feel invincible, the boredom tilt, and the personal life tilt bad day gf troubles etc:

The personal life tilt is hard to avoid especially if its something big, the other tilts you just gotta play your game and know this game has swings, sometimes however you just got to take a break.. take a shower watch a comedy take a nap

If your in a tournament and can't leave after losing a big pot you'll just have to do your best to just play your game and remember you can't control the past so stay focused on the present

think so too ) take a deep breath, close your eyes for a moment and imagine yourself a winner)

I just turn off pokerstars (when I lost couple hands that I should win) and then I play when I feel that I am gonna make money.

It's not easy to not let the results bother you, espcially if you realize the chances of you losing ALL of those all ins is about 5%.

Understand that Lady Luck's a 300 lb involuntary virgin who somehow still caught herpes and she's bitter at the world.

If taking it easy doesn't work, or if the bad luck streak keeps going, then stop playing.

My best advise is to divert yourself off poker or the table for 15 to 20 minutes...
I personally used to divert myself by playing some action packed pc games, playing with my pet or eating my fridge out !!!
But later on i found the the best way...which is to take a poker book and read around for atleast 30 minutes before starting again, that way its a win-win situation !!!

******Important and basic******
Just practice keeping a calm mental state... WITH EVERYTHING you'll eventually build up resistance and become a better player.
