I know this is an almost useless freeroll to some people considering you only have 300 chips to start with... but honestly its easier to cash than in the ferguson as long as you can get into a safer chipstack early on. My strategy in this tounament is simple,

At first: Play tight, dont get into 3 way pots or more, try to shove with your best hands and know that your opponents will shove with almost any face cards and not worry about kicker. Try to get over 1000 chips earlier because this will allow you to play tight through the growing blinds without losing a lot of chips. This is the hardest part, winning three all ins in a row is hard even if you did have aces, its also hard to get a read on your opponents since people are shoving every five seconds and u shift tables alot.

Once that first hump is out of the way, its pretty easy. Play tight still, look for good spots to double up and wait out the shoving madness. Your stack should grow with the blinds, a good way to play at this point is to go after the short stacks with hands like A9+, KJ, KT, they sound weak i know, but if you're putting up only 300 in a 1500 stack its not that bad.

The blinds and antes will eventually will catch up to you no matter what stack you have. Before they become too high, pick spots and steal steal steal! This is one thing the DD freeroll has over the ferguson, antes! Once i was down to 300 chips, shoved my ante and blind in and got up to 1500, shoved again from UTG, then again and was back up to like 5000 chips. People dont want to call, they want to fold into the money, this will not work.

When stealing, go after the medium stacks, big stacks with 20K will call you down, dont go after the short stacks with trash like 37o with position because they will call you down with K7, K2, etc, and be ahead. You do not want to have 5000 chips reduced to 3000, it will reduce your ability to steal.

Stealing is the key to this freeroll and the ferguson, its just easier here because 200 cash. 1 hour and 15 minutes and you get a dollar... its great if you dont want to pay for the DD but not much else.

Great. I was wondering how to approach those and was curious if anyone could really be +EV given it seems (for the most part), like a shovefest.

Do you mind me asking how you've done on them so far? You can PM me if you feel more comfortable.

if you pick up a suited connector i'd shove into a 3 way pot.

I really dont think there is much strategy in that tourny. shove and pray would be my strategy. The blinds get high quick and u only start with 300 so any Ace i would shove with.

Unless I've gotten sucked out on (which only happened once) the last 6 that I played in I cashed as long as i got over that first hump of getting 1000-1500 chips. Out of the 6 I played, I cashed in 3, the 3 i didnt 2 i didnt get over the hump and one i got all my chips in with like 3 limpers and i had KK, they all called and one of them had A8 and won, not really a suck out I know but was really annoying that all 3 called a 1500 chip raise from 80.

Its only a shovefest in the beginning guys, 95 percent of the people playing treat it like a shovefest at the beginning, then the others who get in the top 600 and think 'oh now i play tight and cash' leave their antes and blinds for you to steal. In the last two ive played I stole perfectly and was in the top 30 out of the 200 that cashed while i watched everyone else fold to the point where they could only post the ante.

I agree, I used to play that game and use an all in or fold strategy:p
Thanx to CC, I no longer need to bother :)

i find people are way too aggressive in these tournaments, even though its only for a dollar i would like to see solid poker. i see too many all ins with cards like 95 suited just to see it suckout to AA which is an actual hand i saw today. i know its poker and anything can win but it can get annoying sometimes

What time is the tournament that you are referring to? The daily dollars on full tilt a little after 3 and 7 EST costs 200 FTP's (or $1) per buyin/rebuy/addon and start with 1500 chips. For those I'll wait for any reasonable decent hand and hope that I'm at a shove happy table that could 4-5x up my stack. If you are lucky enough to hit you can wait and start playing position and premium hands from there. I'd probably approach a 300 chip tournament the same way. Wait for whatever the heck suited connectors, PP, etc and go for it. 300 chips? wow.

He's talking about the Satellite to the Daily Dollar, not the Daily Dollar itself. The sat is at 18:25 full tilt server time. Start with 300 chips and 5 minute blinds with 200 getting $1T. Todays tourney ID# 132093471

I basically wait for a hand early then go all in. I've only cashed in 2, but its really about getting luck early.

Nah its about getting lucky early to survive with such a small stack... then its about stealing, you dont need aces when people are folding their enormous blinds to you when you have K7s and could stack them and their A8o.

but early on is when you need skill..u need to get those good hands and play em strong..maybe get lucky and have them hold..but u def need to get lucky in the late stages..especially to win and get yourself a big stack to get to the final table

I too play a lot of these games... Earlier my strategy was exactly as u mentioned, and i have got good results... But lately i have been playing differently and been reaping the same good, some times better results... This new strategy is i think these re-buy games as a 5$ or 6$ buy in game and i shove with premium hands till i make say at-least 15k by first break, then i play real tight...

I have cashed in these a few times and just about every time I pushed all in with my first pair. If I don't get one by the second time the blind comes around, I'm all-in with any ace or king. Avoiding alot of players in the pot seems to be key so try to isolate and shove in good position. Doesn't make sense to wait around for long and you need about 1500 or so to get over the "hump". Since it's only for a T dollar, pushing early and often with any decent hole cards seems to work for me.

Where is the benefit. Does it not make sense to just buy-in if you wish to play in these dollar games. You can spend a lot of time trying to win sat.

I do the .30c sattys too, but I like to play the DD and if i can do it for free why not you know? I just join the freeroll and play a couple DD sattys at the same time... recently I've been busy with school though :(.

Agree with Salim; the if you make it to 1K or chips or so, you have at least a 50/50 chance of making the money. Very important to avoid going all-in the first few hands unless you have something like A-A as you'll likely to be involved in a multi-way pot. However, you can't wait too long as the blinds will eat up those 300 chips quick.

After that it's picking your spots with decent hands.

I have cashed in these 2-3 times, which helped build my FT bankroll up from zero. Like previous posters said - its a simple case of winning the first few all ins then you have a great chance of placing.

I always just unreg for the $1 in the freeroll or via the turbo sats. The time of the DD is basically unplayable for people based in the UK.:(

Hard to play in Eastern US too... ends like 5 in the morning...

At first I thought that a 1 $ isnt enough for the daily dollar, but I realized that you are talking about the late night (for europeans) tournament which isnt a rebuy-addon one. :)
