Is there any rules or any guide lines to cutting the deck? Other than the basic one of offering the cut to the player right of the dealer. I tried looking up cutting rules once. The only thing that came up was a rule that said you should cut at least twice as many cards as there are players to be dealt. And the other was a description and brief history of the Scarn cut.(pulling the middle out of the deck and placing it on top). This is more of a style of cut rather than a rule. Apparently it is more secure against stacking the deck.

The person making the cut passes the cut towards the dealer.

From what I know you can do one riffle shuffle instead of a cut.

As to your point about the middle being more secure that is not true. If you cut in around the same place then it is very easy to set up the deck using a cramp to force you to cut to the exact spot. well it works with a very high degree of success.

If your interested in ways to protect yourself from cheating I recommend:
