Does anyone change the way that they play based upon the concept that your opponent is less likely to be holding one of your pocket cards or one of the cards that is on the board. Plain example, if you're holding a 10 it's less likely that your opponent is holding a 10 as well. I understand that this makes mathematical sense, but time and time again I see people holding like cards as well as 2 people having trips. I think this is especially true for high cards, Kings, Aces, since people are more likely to play those than to muck them. Every time I try to use "blockers" I seemed to get burned. Thoughts?

I've used this concept to guess what my opponent could have.

This concept only occurs to me when players play back aggressive or at the start of the flop. The chances of me facing a blocker card has been quite low as far as experiences go.

If you don't change the way you play based upon what cards your opponent is likely to be holding, then you're not playing the game right. For example, when you flop middle pair, we might have a tendency to check out of fear that our opponent may have hit the over card. Even after he checks behind, we might have lingering concerns that our opponent may be trapping. But when the board pairs that over card on the turn, we suddenly find the confidence to lead out, not because our opponent checked behind on the flop, but because, as you say, it just makes mathematical sense that with the board paired, there is less chance that he is holding one of those cards. Of course it should always be kept in mind, that probability and possibility are two different things.

Agree, when many people are involved in a hand, most likely one of them is holding your supposedly outs.

the blocker happens like this
if I hold A4 example

the guy who play top 22% range.

if I 3bet, the guy's call 3bet range is JJ+, with any AX
if you hold an Ace block

his call 3bet range will drop a lot. think about 16% of his calling range will lost because of 1 blocker at this time. which means you gain 1/6 extra.
____
the concept of block is depends on what percentage of the block in his range.

if previous example the call 3bet range is 22+,AKo+
then your ace block is totally overestimated here.
you cannot block anything.
___

it is sometimes could over estimate the maths part of hold your effective blocker.
