Coach worth it?
I wonder if a good coach solve some problems in relation to their performance in poker.
It is worth investing

Hell no! We are using the internet... Why not download some books or check out tutorials on youtube? My advice... Jump in the water and get your feet wet. The best way to get better at something is to do it. It can be harsh. Every time you lose your money in a poker game you learn a lesson that you wont forget.

yes no maybe.

If you want to improve then a coach would be the fastest way, book reading next and watching videos of wsop etc also good provided the commentators are focusing on the game and not their love life. Once you have done the basics then tests like poker stars are worthwhile to see how much you have learnt, although their answers are theoretical and not based on how players may actually play.

If you feel like you should be doing better at the game, and can take criticism and be open minded, and ready to put in the hard work, a coach is the best thing for your game.

You can see by the varied answers of your question that everyone on forums has a different opinion, sometimes only one is right, or both are wrong, or both are kinda right. A coach can give you an exact answer.

I've tried learning from forums and training sites and books, but I only saw drastic improvement after getting a coach. And now I am learning more effectively from training sites and books because of my coach.

You know how Wikipedia can be totally wrong sometimes? Well a fair few of the people on here are just as (un)reliable. You can be getting advice from people who have been stuck at 2NL for their whole poker career, should you really be listening to them?

If you're serious about improving get a coach, and if you listen to them and put in the hard work, you'll wish you had done it sooner

It depends on the coach. I've gone through a handful and some were a waste of time and money. One was awesome enough to sweat me a few times (live) and gave me a list of my tells. That accelerated things quickly for me.

Some coaches teach and may actually have a curriculum. Others just take your money for the privilege to talk to them and if you don't ask the right questions you won't get the right answers.

So make sure to get reviews or references and determine if you are going to get what you want out of it before paying.

Yeah so true. I think the best way to go is a coach that is making online content, because you can watch their training vids, and make a pretty good estimate of their approach to coaching. I'm not saying all guys who make online vids are good coaches, it's just a good way to check out their style.

Plus have an intro session first before you sign up for their multi session packages.

In my opinion its best to get coaching from multi people

Then become the student who crushes the coach and then becomes a coach

You can always keep learning so keep in touch with youre circle of people and old coaches

I make a lot of money doing HH reviews and I get % of winnings for some deal i work with people

Like MB said, it depends on the coach. Books and vids are great. But, a coach can point out things YOU do, which a book or vid cannot.

It also only makes sense if you have done the basic work already. There is no need to pay a coach for that.

the key is the word "Good"
well, its a bit difficult to find an affordable one.
just join online poker course like PokerZion or get a training software its a lot cheaper and it may fix the problem.

If you can develop yourself it is the best idea to have a coach, but you can also do it by reading lots of articles on the Internet, books and watching special videos.

BTW, don't be shy. INTERVIEW your prospective new coach. After all, you are hiring him to do a job.

A good coach will propel your game forward and cut down your learning curve drastically. The keyword here though is good. There's honestly a lot of bad coaches out there. By my estimates, probably about 75% of them shouldn't be coaching.

If you hire a coach, and I'd recommend it if you can afford it, get referrals, get testimonials from their past students, and make sure you know you're getting a winning coach by doing your research. Make sure your coach has a game plan, and has time for you. I've spent as much as 1.2k/hr for a bad coach, but he was a great player. Great players don't always translate into good coaches either.
