To play against the chipleader you need to have patience. He will not always get good cards.

It depends on how many BBs you have, amongst other things.

Poker is far too complex of a game for such a vague question to have an answer.

I try to avoid the chip leader. If he doesn't play every hand, you can wait and pick your spots where he is not in the pot. You will also need a good hand to play a pot.

Trap

I figure the chip leader is most likely playing weaker cards than normal. So, I try to trap him or her when I get a strong hand to hopefully increase my stack. It doesn't always work because sometimes the chip leader does have a stronger hand then I thought.

tend to avoid as their usually fish on heaters or got the power of zeus or worse.. both together.. soon their stack will usually crumble and the heater will burn out though but i dont wanna be seeing to many flops against him or her when he s in this mode so better i keep out of his path

Patience and caution I have to feel confident that I can go all-in...even when I shouldn't ;>)

Many people think that as a chip leader it is better to play with fewer cards. i thought so.
You have to play differently if you have the most chips. in many situations, mathematically it is worth risking, (against small stacks), and pressure on the table.
If we do not do that, we will miss many opportunities.

I suggest never going allin against the chip leader online with anything less than the nuts. online poker always seems to favor the chipleader- I call it rigged but many people don't like that term.

Final table, patiently. Mid range of tournament. Try to stay out of scuffles with chip leader unless heavy handed or cheap flop. Don't try to steal hands, just bail because it was cheap. If you do have a lot in pre flop, then you better make that steal bet scary. or your chips will be eaten.

Not with run-outs if they have multiples of your stack. The nuts aggressively. I'v seen people lose chip leading stacks 400BB and more in MTTs in 2 or 3 hands.

I try to exercise patience and pick my spots. Often the chip leader will get a little too aggressive so I will battle aggressively when I have decent hand. Sometimes you have to put up some fight so the villain knows you won’t just fold your stack away to any raise. Bullies do not want a confrontation. Trap the chip leader if possible. Inevitably they will raise one too many times if they have been stealing many pots. When the time is right, use your good position and hopefully winning cards hold up.

if I have a big stack I will not contact the leader in the fight without having a good strong hand. my task is to put pressure on the medium and small stacks
