wWhats good everyone ?

Everytime i go to the casino and im seated at a table , theres always that beast ass chip leader there . To me personally... I'm intimidated by them . Its like "DAMN BRO !! HOW'd you get that many chips !?! " When the maximum by-in is only $100 on a 1/2 no limit .

How does everyone else feel about the chip leader ?

Also , whats the best advice for not feeling so intimidated by them?

Why are you intimidated by the chip leader in a cash game? It's easy to build a stack quickly in NL. A couple suckouts will get you there in no time.

The big stack being a bully doesn't apply in cash games. You can only lose what's in front of you. You have $50, but he has $50 million, the hand is playing out for $50.

yea Qtip pretty much summed it up you can only lose what you have in front of you so it doesnt matter if anyone has more money than you do. plus if you get a good hand who would more willing to pay you off someone whos up alot of money or someone whos down alot of money. its the guy whos up because he'll be thinking hes on top of the world and can't be beat. meanwhile the guy who barely has any money left is going to be much more tight with his money and won't pay off your good hands. so don't be afraid of these guys just because they have big stacks just take advantage of them and win some money.

as the chipleader they will probably bluff more which might make you lay down hands that are winning BUT when u get a hand it makes it likely they will try the same tactic again going for the fold and end up paying you off nicely

You have to understand that you are playing the same game they are. Its like the full tilt commercial where the poker player (not sure the name) looks across at a guy holding mounds of chips, and says in his mind, those are my chips. That's the way to think, you want those, so go take them. Being intimidated will make you fold in situations you probably shouldnt.

I was in a tournament about 2 weeks ago, just got busted and rebought. Very first hand i get A/J unsuited. I just doubled the big blind, and big stack called. Flop came 7d Jh 3S. I bet and he raised, so i folded. Dumb play on my part hardcore, but i was too scared of losing the hand right off the back after rebuying. Intimadation sucks!

Don't let that d-bag with stack screw with your head. More often than not (at least at some of casino's I play) the guy ended up there playing 3-5 off and sucked out a straight on 5th st. with a b.a.c. 2 or 3 times the legal limit.

I used to get in a twist about this, too. Until I saw some utter trash being shown on the river. It pays to compliment this kinda play, by the way. They'll keep doing it. I just waited for my spot and flat called pre with good holdings and shoved after the flop.

Been paid off many many many times over by guys like this.

Chipleader is a tournament term. There's no "chipleader" in cash games (they aren't a race), it's big stack.

Exactly. You just have to play the way you'd normally play on any table. Play with your cards and just don't think about his stack so much. Better yet, take advantage.
