Check in the dark

Do you check in the dark? When and why? I don't do this but I've seen others do it and would like to know what people think of this move.

I mean personally I would never do it, but if everyone's calling the BB it doesn't really matter since you can just see free cards at literally zero cost to you. I don't think it ever helps your game though unless you're trying to convince the other players you're psychic or something lol

Some fish do it because they think it sounds cool.

Some good players do it because they are playing psychological mind games. Phil Hellmuth, who is not great at poker theory, but is hugely successful, does it quite often.
