Off all the poker concepts, I think this is the most important. By changing gears I mean slowing it down and tightening up your range, especially in regard to position. Inevitably, hot streaks come to an end. Being able to identify what your table image is at the table is an important element. If the tables just saw you win a huge pot after calling a raise from the button with a hand like 89 suited, for example, this gives off the image that you are playing from a looser range. Some players may not take note of the difference between playing that hand on the button and playing that hand period and that may represent a very loose range. Meaning when you are in a hand next, you may be getting called with a wider range of hands. Which means tightening up your range. On the other side of that spectrum, if you have been playing super tight and havent been in a pot for the last 20 hands, you get dealth 10 8 hearts on the cut off with 2 limpers ahead of you. A raise may be an effective play. Particularly in tournament poker when the blinds are becoming a significantly large portion of your stack.
