Hello. I have had more luck at sit and go tables then i have cash games. Let me know what your opinion is and any good or bad outcomes you received from either one of the games. Thanks.

I'm assuming that you're talking NL hold'em, but that's an assumption because you don't specify. Assuming that you play each at about the same level, I don't think there's a big advantage for either cash games or sit-n-gos. I agree with the prior poster's statement that there is likely to be more volatility in sit-n-gos. Having said that, I do think there are more situational advantages for a good player to exploit in the sit-n-gos and, IMO, they more than offset the volatility.

I highly recommend Collin Moshman's book on Sit'n Go Strategy. If you read it, assimilate it, and apply the information correctly then you will definitely become a winning sit-n-go play.

Good luck, and run well.

I play 6max cash game a lot, and only played SNG once or twice. It's really preference. For me, the reason I like cash game is that I can start and stop whenever I can. I won't have such freedom if I play SNG

I usually play sit&goes, because those are limited and I can not lose to much money on them. But sometimes I also play and cash games, but in cash games I don't have very lucky, sometimes I can lose $10 or $20 on the beginning and than I become tilt and after that I can lose all my money. In cash games everything can happens. So I prefer to play sit&goes and if sometimes I play cash games I will play FL Hold'em where I can not lose to much money.

Not with right BR.
It's been pretty much proven that cash games have the smallest downswings compared to sit n goes and mtt. Mtt being the most brutal by nature of their prize structure.

Among cash games, FR games at 2nl by far has the smallest variance d/t a combination of passive fish whom which you can pot control with ridiculous ease and exploiting is so easy. On the other hand, high stakes heads-up is puke inducing from what I hear, just not sure if it's worse than sit n goes though.

But here's the caveat with sit n gos, if you're gonna play them, you pretty much have to settle with the fact that with every passing day, more and more players will understand optimal push/fold strategy or at least can come pretty close to it such that whatever edge is gonna be small. Single table SnGs are pretty much 'solved' and reg infested so your best bet is Mtt SnGs where fish are lured by the "huge" grand prize

So yeah, play cash... It's the nuts.

cash games can be bad because your fixed winrate may swing more than sit and gos and your losses will be more extreme if you don't understand the aspects of cash games, but sit and gos its more simple and easy to track how you have been doing, cash games can be deceptive with different players coming in and out and having live money instead of a buy in can be dangerous so based on that you should consider if it affects you if not you could play both if it does than go play sit and gos and not cash or the other way around if you find sit and gos boring or are bad at them

what i was trying to say to him, was the fact that in cash u can loose all in one pot ( of course if u have a BM u wont, but there are millions of people who play without it ), but on sit n go, u just loose ur buyin, plus the fee

I personally like double-ups cause they are easy to manipulate into the top 5 for a win and not just 1-3 places get paid so you can straggle buy if people get ****y if u fall behind early.

Try both! but do it from low stakes and then increase depending of your results.

I honestly think sit-n-gos, especially if they have Double or Nothing SnG tournaments, are very easy to exploit if you play a fairly standard game.

I have been testing out the this format as well. I am starting to notice a certain strategy that works well VS certain people. I just shove over them or raise and they are so scared they fold and it keeps me a float. Of course I just don't randomly do this this but in good spots people will NEVER call. Especially when they are 6 people.

Thanks to all of you for answering. I am doing fine MTT. I just wish I could avoid the bad beats.I play so often that the bad beats are becoming predictable. AND if i play it out to the river usually the pot isnt even half as full as if i were go all in and knock them out with a good hand. say AA... all in preflop and get called by 88... if i win then awesome but the many times i have lost from a bad beat has taken every bit of profit i win. But say i had aa and they had 88 how can i manage to make it to the river making them think they have the best hand and make them bet twice as much... i just cant beat the bad beats when i have a good enough hand to make some money or THEY FOLD. idk.

You can't consider playing sit n go's/cash games based on other people's preferences on this forum, you have to base it on how well you can play on what types of games. You need 2 different types of knowledge for each of the two, playing cash is much much different from any tourneys and you really need to know this if playing decent stakes; you can't play cash and tourneys the same, you'll get run over. I suggest you research the two and decide what suits your game; if you like avoiding big pots then tbh i'd stay away from cash, if you like to get risky this is more of the game for you. If you are interested about surviving and playing your opponents with deep stacks etc I would prefer sit n go's. I mainly play cash and its done me well, usually I take advantage of players who don't like to risk there stack of cash a lot so capitalise; you can't do this in any tourney.

I've always preferred cash games because if you play them a lot you are making rake every hand you play. Plus there is always the chance of a bad beat at the table. I know that chance is extremely small but the more you play the better the odds. A nice chunk of $50 G's would brighten my day 😀.

The only problem I run into is what stakes table to play at. What percentage of my bankroll should be on the table at any given time? I'll look below for thoughts.
